As a designer who’s being transitioning in the next step here are some things that I’ve been doing
- Replicate your designs in code, try first frontend then connecting to any backend. My recommended stack is supbase, nextjs and cursor
- Learn how github and the terminal works
- if you can and have a dev friend in your team, tell them to allow you to start building small features and ask them to review them for you
- every time you don’t get something ask cursor in ask mode to explain it to you
As a take I think the era of writing manual code is almost over, so I think learning the bases of programming will help you a lot
And don’t get disappointed if sometimes it doesn’t work! My first attempt was a mess, now I was able to create my portfolio and some other apps using cursor. You can check them out here https://t.co/R3skhkJS5w
Hope it helps
Either my algo is cooked or I’m following the wrong crowd.
My feed is full of Polymarket bot spam and Openclaw $15 → $100k in 30 days posts
Is it just me?
@oliverhenry Totall even just the setup lol, ppl are paying thousands of dollars for that it’s crazy. I watched a bunch of VPS tutorials, got frustrated, almost used a wrapper… then i was like bro just ask claude for the terminal vps commands.
@uiwithjay@cursor_ai@framer Keep trying bro https://t.co/DYXucUGIpb
It’s not 100% but once you get it it’s pretty straightforward. If you want shot me DM happy to help
A year ago I thought I needed Framer or Webflow to make a “proper” portfolio.
This week I built mine with @cursor_ai in just a few days and deployed it for free with @vercel.
Still WIP, but wow! Feels like another step toward becoming a design engineer.
Designers should start building their own ideas and pushing themselves to make things real.
If you want tips or have questions, DM me. Happy to help.
