@Uncrewed Wow I’m surprised the D incumbent here underperformed Harris in 2024, as she was usually an overpeformer.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@Robpxn @ChazNuttycombe @RedistrictNet Would still be like 400 short of that.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@tencor_7144 @RedVictoryGop I think even Harris won that in 2024. It should be pretty safe Dem as a Harris seat in Alabama.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@LIEngProf @s0phistry @MadLibHatter @bluearrowMaps @SageOfTime1 @Thorongil16 @DemHackMaps @JMilesColeman @RJ_maps @cinyc9 @redwoodcntymaps @NinetyDegreeZ @HugeGuilfordCo But Kerry only lost that 1st by like 1500 votes in 2004 when he was actually losing Ohio.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@s0phistry @LIEngProf @MadLibHatter @bluearrowMaps @SageOfTime1 @Thorongil16 @DemHackMaps @JMilesColeman @RJ_maps @cinyc9 @redwoodcntymaps @NinetyDegreeZ @HugeGuilfordCo He barely won it. My bigger question is how did he only barely win the 1st?

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@SeanTrende @stevemorris__ Yet Dems somehow held almost all those seats in 1976 when turnout returned to normal and most of them even in 1978 when it was the midterm of a Jimmy Carter.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@ChazNuttycombe In 2020 KY-06 actually looked like a D flip early on with the early vote being so Dem.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@LIEngProf @Free_CentralPA It was quiet a bit more Dem downballot at the time.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@LIEngProf @createsunfall But Dems controlled the senate from 2013-2014, and again from 2019 until he resigned in 2021. At least one of the judges that struck down the D map was appointed in 21 when he could gotten a liberal that would have upheld the map appointed.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@createsunfall @LIEngProf Same here!! Cuomo had the gall to complain about the state and local tax deduction being capped by Trump and Rs yet appointed judges that blocked the D drawn House map that would have allowed Ds to keep the House in 2022 and make changes to the cap. Such a fucking hypocrite.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@createsunfall @LIEngProf Cuomo actually lost Tonko’s Albany based district in 2014 due to losing a lot of votes to the Green Party candidate.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@DrewSav Why are Ds not supporting independent redistricting here? Ds won’t win the governorship in 2030 if a Dem is president.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@AGlavkoverkh @LIEngProf Trump still had an approval rating well above 50% among the electorate the voted in Kansas in 2020.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@Uncrewed Will population growth in Frederick keep causing the city district to keep shrinking and eventually turn LD-04 blue?

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@DrewSav Rs having a registration advantage at all in NC (Ds had huge one for years up until recently) almost certainly puts a ceiling on his victory margin (I don’t think he’ll win by much more than the 52-47 he won by in 2020).

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@trowaman @stagmontsinkie @ChazNuttycombe That rule needs to be a key part of any future gerrymandering reform nationally.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@BananaRep405 @LIEngProf Like Obama and other SC liberals should have done to RBG in 2013/early 2014.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@JeremyBloom @ChazNuttycombe Gonna be close to impossible for Dems to control a majority of house delegations.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@deadbeef333 @ChazNuttycombe Arizona and Michigan have independent redistricting commissions.

[Steve Evets @SteveEvets8]

@Adam171020 @LIEngProf Really only would have had an impact in the Northern part of Ohio (Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, Youngstown, Lorain).
