After a 2 decades working in hotels, I’ve realized something special. Many of the photos families keep in a frame were taken during a vacation or celebration at a hotel.
In hospitality we get to help create those memories and it’s something we should never take for granted.
Rich Paul ask the world to put themselves in Bams shoes after he received criticism for scoring 83 points:
“Let’s everyone put themselves in Bams shoes. A kid who grew up single mom, trailer park in North Carolina. Just trying to figure it out. This kid gets pretty good at basketball. Goes to Kentucky for one year. Gets drafted probably later than what he should’ve been but luckily for him falls to an unbelievable organization. The Miami Heat. Been to the finals twice. Been an All Star. Been a gold medalist. He’s done all this as a hard hat, lunch pail, steel toe boots type of player. This guy gets to shine one night on the offensive end. His mom is in the crowd, his lady A’ja is in the crowd. He gets to shine. One night, after he’s built this house, built this building. Why aren’t we happy for Bam Adebayo? Let’s celebrate it! This don’t diminish Kobe 81”

After decades in hospitality, I’ve learned guests are incredibly forgiving of mistakes if they feel like someone genuinely cares.
A good reminder for all of us in hospitality.
After working in hotels, vacation rentals, and now hospitality development, I’ve learned great hospitality is simple… make people feel taken care of, and they’ll come back and bring their friends.

It’s infrastructure.

While spectators debate narratives,
operators are building outcomes.
So I’ll ask the only question that matters:
What/When are you building here?
This could change everything! I love what Miami Beach just approved. I’ve been going to Ocean Drive since I was a baby.
I remember the 90s when it felt like the center of the world. Movie stars, models, packed restaurants. The energy was incredible.
I also saw the other era. Traffic, chaos during spring break, and a street that slowly started losing what made it special.
That’s why I love the idea Miami Beach just approved.
A plan to fully pedestrianize Ocean Drive north of 5th Street with wider sidewalks, outdoor seating, and space for people instead of cars.
If done right, Ocean Drive could become one of the great promenades in the world.
The architecture is already there.
The park is there.
The ocean is there.
Now imagine it designed for people to walk, sit, eat, and enjoy it.
I think it could completely change the experience of Miami Beach.
Do you think a pedestrian Ocean Drive make it better, or ruin the character of the street?
Miami Beach approved fully pedestrianizing Ocean Drive north of 5th St. This would create 20 ft wide sidewalks and expansive seating areas.
Side streets would have cul-de-sacs for passenger vehicles to easily turn around. Trucks would use the alleys on Ocean Court. Collapsible bollards would be in place to allow emergency vehicles through.
The county has to sign off on the design before it can move forward. If it gets the green light, it’ll take around 8 months before any construction documents are ready
I've never been more excited about a team:
- Steve brings 30yrs of luxury hospitality expertise
- Our GC has brought multiple visions of mine to life
- Another partner is America's top unique structure distributor
- Our fourth partner is founder of a business community on track to do $1B in acquisitions
This time around, my vision is coming to life with the perfect team.
Since 2021, I’ve obsessed over one idea…
Building a tropical landscape resort.
But not in Costa Rica. Not in Bali. Right here in the US.
For 3 years, I struck out repeatedly... until 6 months ago.
Here’s the story of my latest project, Baya in Redland, Florida: 🧵
We officially announced Baya this week and the response has been incredible.
After two years of dreaming, walking farms, and building the right team, this tropical landscape resort is no longer just a vision. It’s happening.
Baya is a first of its kind wellness and agritourism retreat, just 45 minutes from Miami, where modern travelers can reconnect with nature, themselves, and something truly meaningful.
This project is deeply personal and we wanted to share the full story with you.
🎥 I sat down with my partner, @uniquestaysguy Ben Wolff, for a candid conversation about how Baya came to life, what makes it so unique, and why we believe it’s a model for the future of hospitality.

We’re also raising the final round of capital and looking for a small group of aligned investors who believe in purpose-driven hospitality and want to be part of something long-lasting and meaningful.
If you’ve been following along, thank you. This is just the beginning.
We are building something different here in Miami! Not just another resort.
Not another boring hotel but something rooted in the land. Built with memory making in mind. A place where travelers slow down, reconnect, and feel something real.
That idea first came to me in July 2023.
Over the past two years, that idea evolved into Baya, a tropical landscape resort set on 25 acres of tropical fruit farmland just 45 minutes from Miami International Airport.
It’s a rethinking of what hospitality can be.
⸻
Baya combines immersive wellness, agritourism, and nature-first design into a one-of-a-kind guest experience.
Think:
-Villas inspired by Bali, nestled among longan, papaya, and banana trees
-Natural grottos and outdoor showers, and farm trails
-A wellness center with sauna, cold plunge, and cafe
-A working farm you can taste, touch, and learn from
To bring Baya to life, I’ve partnered with the dream team:
@uniquestaysguy Ben Wolff, visionary founder of Onera and outdoor hospitality leader
Banks Chisum, master builder of award-winning destination resorts
Edward Haynes, modular design expert with global experience
Victor Feria, my partner at Tangy Management, and the heart of our operations
Each of us brings a super power and together, we’re building more than a resort. We’re building a new model for hospitality!
We’re currently raising the final round of capital from a small group of investors who believe in what Baya represents nature driven design, wellness-focused hospitality, and long-term value rooted in purpose.
This is a rare opportunity to be part of a first-of-its-kind project with a proven team, a clear vision, and a strong foundation already in place.
If you’re interested in learning more about the investment opportunity, reach out directly. I’d love to share the details.
Thank you to everyone who’s followed this journey over the past two years. Your support helped bring this project to life.
Welcome to Baya.
Steve had spent a year getting zoning approval for a 25-acre exotic fruit farm owned by his childhood family friend.
His vision:
Help the farm become economically sustainable through glamping units & authentic farm experiences.
He brought me down in January to check it out...
I'm finally ready to share a secret.
Meet Baya.
Our new 20-key tropical landscape resort in Redland, Florida. Just 45 minutes south of Miami.
But this isn’t your typical Florida resort.
Here's what makes Baya special...🧵
It is not as bad as you think…
You’ve already made it through things you once thought would break you.
The deal that fell through.
The tough season you didn’t see coming.
The personal setback that felt impossible in the moment.
But you’re still here.
Still showing up. Still building. Still growing.
In hospitality and in life we’re constantly tested.
But the strength you’ve built through those moments is what makes you valuable. What you’ve been through has shaped you, not shattered you.
You’re not as fragile as you think.
And every time you keep going, you prove it.
You got this 💪
