@tipatat Perhaps we should have made giant cakes that you fight instead of ninjas 😅 But if you feel like mesh-slicing 3d objects, we have plenty of that! @ninjalegendsvr
@kentbye@HighFidelityVR@DavidSHolz@_LucasRizzotto Just jumped in to check out @HighFidelityVR on my phone for the first time and it is really compelling. The ease of access, the multiple conversations going on, and a feeling of presence with just some small profile icons. There is something special here!
@vivslaboratory One other hesitation I have is around the cost. Maybe just a psychological reaction to an uncapped percentage. 5% of gross rev gets to feel pretty big after platform fees and starts to influence the math around marketing. (The first $1M rev grace period is nice though!)
@tripworks@vivslaboratory Definitely only have light (and outdated) experience with Unreal so I can definitely be wrong. If it can allow cycles as fast as Unity (or close) then I gotta take another look.
@c_pruett One thing we've had trouble with are really long Shader Variant Generation times. It seems to rebuild all shaders on every build. Have you seen this overcome or improved somehow?
@ID_AA_Carmack In one of my previous games, there was a lot of randomness in each play through. We wanted the first session to show certain features so we wrote some code to scan millions of seeds for a “good” seed. So the first session design was expressed as a single number on disk: the seed.
Hear from Steven Jian from Coinflip Studios as he provides his techniques for keeping a smooth frame rate during fast, dynamic interactions in @ninjalegendsvr: https://t.co/o6AlXOC3i7
@benz145 This is what we did with @ninjalegendsvr - focused on a specific verb (slice) until it was something that players wanted to do over and over. Having satisfying core verbs in the game also help you not go crazy after testing it for the thousandth time!
@VRDesktop Using hand tracking to get into and set up a virtual desktop session is the first thing I thought of when I tried it. I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse hooked up when I run vd, don’t want two more controllers in the mix. Lightweight hand tracking would be perfect here.
@benz145 The tv remote to game controller comparison is a good one. I think if we had been using a wired game console controller to change tv channels and they came out with the remote control, everyone would be rightfully excited as well!
@ali_moiz Ali! I just realized that we had worked next to each other in that hotel basement coworking space 6 years ago! I remember thinking it was so cool to meet the owners of the Vulcun esports team. Now, I use OBS all the time! Small world. Congrats on the success!
@ID_AA_Carmack For the review - do you prefer a pure new user experience or can we put together a review build with specific elements we would like you to look at pulled forward?
