Decades of cuts to infrastructure, and this is the inevitable outcome ⬇️
And there’s more where that came from with @NYCMayor’s budget slashing & @GovKathyHochul’s failure to provide for everyday, working NYers. We deserve better!!
Carving swastikas into your gun before you hunt Black people isn’t mental illness. It’s white supremacy.
We need to be damn clear about that, because the solutions to those two problems are very different. It’s not brain chemistry, it’s a worldview that doesn’t see us as human.
So today, we remember the many New Yorkers who died due to an overdose while continuing to work towards the implementation of life saving measures that will help our State overcome this terrible crisis. The tools are within our reach, we just need the will to use them.
STATEMENT on 1k lives saved @OnPoint's OPCs:
"NY needs executive action immediately to keep saving lives.
Our message to NYS officials and @GovKathyHochul: Stop using the most vulnerable New Yorkers and their healthcare as political bargaining chips.”

.@GovKathyHochul must promptly authorize OPCs run by @_OnPointNYC & allow use of NYS #opioidsettlement funds to expand their lifesaving strategies; otherwise, OPCs will remain vulnerable to stigma, NIMBYism, & interference that impedes their crucial work: https://t.co/jp5VTPs6eg
This is farthest SCSA has progressed since its intro in 2017!! With more than 17 NYers a day dying from a preventable overdose, we are one step closer to authorizing OPCs statewide.
BUT it’s not over. @CarlHeastie @AndreaSCousins PASS #SCSA this session!
WHEN WE FIGHT, WE WIN!

Next week will mark 4 years since NYPD cops Brendan Thompson and Herbert Davis shot and killed Kawaski Trawick in his own home. This could happen to anyone, as the NYPD remains as unaccountable as ever under current Mayor Eric Adams. Rally on 4/12 RSVP: https://t.co/z9AS48UuIN
Here's a map of violent crime in Chicago over the last five years (left) and a map of mayoral election results by precint (right).
The areas hit hardest by violence voted for Brandon Johnson, who campaigned hard on alternatives to policing, instead of tough-on-crime Paul Vallas.
BREAKING! @NYSA_Majority passed #SCSA out of the Assembly Health Committee!
We are deeply grateful for @LindaBRosenthal leadership, and her commitment to centering our voices and lives in this fight.
Thank you Chair @AmyPaulin for ensuring the overdose crisis is a priority! 🧶
