A 21-year-old from Woodbridge. In my fourth year at McGill University, majoring in Economics. When I'm not living, laughing, and loving McGill I play lacrosse
This should not matter because what the pandemic has taught me is to get off my phone and enjoy the people around me more. I believe that what I have learned is you must live in the moment at all times and should not be worrying about what someone is posting when you have company
My approach to #writingtheinternet has drastically changed over the past couple of months because. I feel as a society we are all fixated on our screens that it is taking us away from reality.
I have noticed with my friends that whenever we are all together we are always fixated on our phones and the source of being plugged in because we can't fall behind on what is being posted.
I personally believe that the pressure of always being on puts emotional strain on people making many very anxious when they are not in this digital world. I believe balance is necessary for our lives where we cant be off forever but breaks must be incorporated.
How Boyd illustrated this "always-on" lifestyle is very draining for one person. Personally, I always try to unplug from this virtual world and take time to enjoy the real world and the beauties around me. #ccom315#315WeekEight
During the day I usually get into the tik tok trap and spend many hours looking at videos that are not benefitting my life. I have made a goal to spend less than 30 minutes on this app and it has helped with my self-control.
The most surprising aspect during the Wikipedia challenge is that anyone could make edits to a page with no restrictions or background knowledge needed. I was surprised that after I added a sentence to a page it did not ask for references #ccom315#315wikichallenge
Everything that I edited on the page was uploaded immediately with no flags or restrictions. There was no further revision. which is why a lot of the information on Wikipedia is not reliable. I can truly understand now when teachers say Wikipedia is not a reliable source
I believe that when using Wikipedia the information that is incorrect should be addressed. Even if the website still uses false information, it should definitely be addressed so people reading it can be informed of the correct information #315WeekSeven
A con about Wikipedia is that there is a lot of information being presented on the page at once. I prefer not to do that much research so I would rather it be more direct when saying the answers #315WeekSeven
As a kid, I was always told Wikipedia was not a reliable source without knowing why. I used to try to still use information from Wikipedia in my assignments, however, over the years I realized Wikipedia is not a reliable source to use at all #315WeekSeven
