@juza_23 I called it the league cup when I became aware of its existence in the late 1970s. I still call it the league cup now. It was, of course, a competition created specifically to allow clubs to use the new floodlights they had recently installed.
@tomtitchwfc When Havant & W were in Nat League in 2018/19, they were visited by clubs with good histories: L Orient & Hartlepool were incredible, respectful & warm, both staff and players. Wrexham were utter cunts, entitled, patronising, definitely angry. Nothing changes
@afrodids There was never any prospect of WBA 'parking the bus', lads, points reduction or not. Granted, it seems to be something many of your lot welcome, but 'parking the bus' was never a prospect. I was at Fratton Park the other week. Hmmm. Poor isn't the word.
@WBA One of my first heroes. Saw him in the Europa Lodge once when I was ten. Was too shy to ask for his autograph but mum got it. I loved the red shirt and his warm-ups on the halfway line when we were attacking. RIP Tony. My two childhood heroes have gone far too young.
@carolecadwalla@christogrozev Think women walking around London feel safer now than they did in the 1880s or 1980s. All big cities have issues & not seen context of original tweet but assume it's some veiled racist shit.
@CJHall83 It's a long time but due to being in different leagues, we've only played them 7 times away since then, drawing 3. Not as apocalyptic as it sounds!
Back in the day, I thought #supergrass were lightweight wannabes. The fact they now seem hugely rock 'n roll says either something about me or the state of modern music. I suspect the former.
@Unity_MoT@boing93 Not true. Russian Maxim Demin became co-owner in 2011 paying Β£850,000 & then took full control. They were promoted to Prem in 2015. He avoided sanctions for Ukraine as he's a British citizen. He sold in 22. So Bmouth's 'fairytale' is due to Β£150m bankrolling by Russian oligarch.
@Baggie93 Watford defeats so far this season: 5, WBA: 2. Theyβve scored 8 more than us (2 before today) but let in 21 whereas weβve conceded 8. Cleverleyβs team seems to offer more entertainment than Carlosβs, but letβs wait and see where it takes both teams eventually.
@sid_lambert@FootballInT80s Wasn't there for this but I did go to the school boys game at Wembley v Switzerland around the same time, which ended goalless. Rideout was one of few players in the squad to go on to a decent professional career.
