Derek is the best. I got to know him through an NBA group on Facebook, and that group became really tight-knit during the pandemic. We would all get together on Zoom and have drinks and talk hoops and life for hours multiple times per week. I had never met any of them irl, but we formed real friendships. Then in 2021 we all met up at Summer League. I think that first year there were at least 20 of us, maybe 25. And then we did it again the next year. Meeting and hanging out with Derek in person was such a pleasure. He's hilarious, kind, always positive, and the absolute life of the party – just one of those people you want to be around. He's the coolest Celtics fan you'll ever meet, and one of the nicest people period. Hearing this news today was devastating. Anything y'all can give would mean a lot. https://t.co/pMF1xNvhEM
