If people are looking for a perhaps lesser known but very good movie to watch in her memory then let me suggest 36 Hours. Ms. Saint, James Garner and Rod Taylor in a tense, WW2 suspense thriller that holds up exquisitely. RIP
I had the absolutely ONCE IN A LIFETIME experience of getting to know Eva Marie Saint on the set of SUPERMAN RETURNS back in 2005. She was on set for a few weeks shooting her part as Martha Kent with her boyfriend, Ben Hubbard, played to perfection by James Karen. As the Set Documentarian, I shot a lot of amazing footage with her...and she told me all kinds of crazy stories about Hollywood. She was, as one might say, a pistol. But she was also whip-smart, kind, elegant and just a joy to speak with. Her actual husband, Jeffrey Hayden, whom she was married to from 1951 to his passing in 2016 (!!!), also visited, and he was equally delightful. The pair were still very much in love. The likes of her will never pass this way again. She passed at 102. Just an amazing human being. May her memory be a blessing: https://t.co/pvceeD7Qls
@neontaster Can't claim to have read most of these. My sci-fi taste is a little limited and tends to shy away from most things that lean hard sci-fi. But I LOVED the WorldWar series. Turtledove's characters are often thin but his plots are a romp.
@SubcommanderT I get what you’re saying. And it does help to watch other things or other Star Trek in between. But I’m constantly rewatching TOS and enjoying it. And also appreciating things about the performances that I missed over literally the last 40 years.
I don’t like Rees-Mogg at all. But listen, if you bring weak ass sophistry into a knife fight with an old Etonian, Oxford union, parliamentarian you are going to get FUCKED UP.
There’s a bene gesserit breeding program that designed this man for victory in this form of combat. Frankly? Tucker is lucky he didn’t get dismantled in Latin.
@EsotericCD From a spiritual perspective I think there’s a Babel-esque quality to how they talk about this. And we know how that turned out. Pride goeth.
@SonnyBunch Counting down for my fellow nerds to start fretting that they used the nuTrek Starship Enterprise in the video instead of the film Enterprise.
@cjscalia@NRO While I was also traumatized by this song as a child I seem to have elected to do my part to reclaim "buddy" for middle aged men everywhere.
(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping at one point if he would to like to buy some American armaments, US Ambassador to China David Perdue says.
@LeonHWolf I see all these AOL Johnny Come Latelys and raise them my local Freenet address.
"Free what" they ask?
Sit down, junior, and I'll tell you a story.
@Knapsack In general I agree about the lack of control. It's usually little more than "you get the credit or you get the blame." This time I think the capriciousness of what he's done justifies meaningfully placing the blame on him. Iran, tariffs... It's a whim-induced stagnation.
