The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023.
The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets. Learn more from @David_J_Bier.

Take a moment to look at the inhumanity captured in this extraordinary photo running on the front page of tonight's Minneapolis @StarTribune. It shows federal immigration agents immobilizing a protester on the ground and spraying chemical irritant directly into his face. The scene reminds me of the brutality used against civil rights protesters in the 1960s. We look back at those old photos and wonder how the authorities could have behaved so savagely; many years from now, young Americans will look at these photos from 2026 and wonder how anyone could have justified shooting a woman in the head as she tried to drive away, arresting 5-year-old schoolchildren on the street, or holding a man down and spaying chemicals into his face. Thanks to the Star Tribune reporters and photographers for documenting this work; they create accountability, they make democracy work, and they make all of us in journalism proud.
Today I am publishing what I believe to be the most detailed available map of Trump's job approval rating. Powered by over 12,000 interviews for our Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll. I hope this generates many stories, and hours wasted exploring data!

I first put together a few videos out there I could verify with eyewitness/local news accounts, and in a few days this thread just keeps growing and growing and growing. It is genuinely hard to take in how many incidents of insane incompetence and excessive force are happening.
🚨BREAKING: ICE/Border Patrol agents were filmed assaulting U.S. citizens outside a HIGH SCHOOL in Minneapolis, pepper-spraying students as agents swarmed the school entrance.
Let that sink in.
School administrators and staff desperately tried to get agents off school property, while ushering students away from armed federal agents.
Chaos. Panic. Children running for safety.
And yes… agents pepper-sprayed STUDENTS.
This didn’t happen by accident.
This happened because the Trump administration stripped schools of their “sensitive location” protections, opening the door for ICE and Border Patrol to operate on school grounds.
In plain terms:
The federal government intentionally removed protections that once kept armed agents away from children, and now we are watching the predictable result… kids being assaulted with chemical weapons at school.
Outside a high school.
In broad daylight.
On U.S. soil.
This is not “border security.”
This is state violence.
And it’s being unleashed on children.
The new @AllSidesNow media bias chart is out. @TangleNews news is on it. Some notes:
1. We're "center" and deservedly so, as we continue to offer people a wide range of viewpoints on every issue.
2. Our "center" rating was confirmed by a second blind bias survey. Interestingly...
3. In Feb 2024, our blind bias survey was on the boundary of "lean left." In July of 2025, it's on the boundary of "lean right."
All told, there are very few places offering trustworthy news like us in this era of polarization. And I'm extremely proud to be leaning into diversity of thought.

@Ike_Saul This is an excellent analysis (per usual), & I need to call out one issue with it. You reference that it bolsters the argument that “allowing these migrants in is risky”. Which migrants? Muslims? Afghans who served alongside our military? That needs to be unpacked & reflected on
Nothing to see here….just the guy from Argentina that Trump gave a $40B bailout doing the stupid Trump dance at Mar-a-Lago at the CPAC event there while Americans are losing healthcare and waiting in line at food banks across the country
President Trump, Jan 20: “I will also sign an executive order to immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America. Never again will the immense power of the state be weaponized to persecute political opponents.”
JD Vance: "Our own government encouraged private companies to silence people...Under Donald Trump's leadership, we may disagree with your views, but we will fight to defend your right to offer it in the public square." (Feb. 2025)
Parent grabbed by "unidentified" men in unmarked car—while dropping kid off at elementary.
When school staff asked if they were law enforcement—they refused to specify.
"This is closest that law enforcement like this has got to a school in the country—so it's a really big deal" said the school board chair.
The Portland Police Department confirmed that the men were not their officers—ICE has yet to comment.
The incident occurred outside Talbot Community Elementary School on Forest Ave in Portland, Maine. #DemsUnited
