After decades leading teams, I’ve learned this:
most leadership problems aren’t about effort or talent.
They’re caused by friction —
when a leadership style quietly drains the people under it.
I’m working on ways to make that visible before it costs you people.
When you grow a business and start to employ people, those people count on you, in more ways than you realize, to show up every day and continue getting after it.
Nobody teaches you how many people and families will eventually rely on you.
It can be rewarding and exhausting at the same time.
You’re not operating and staffing a kennel so that’s a shitty argument. I’m not saying that shouldn’t charge a pet fee but $1k for 5 days is just greedy. Your guests are responsible for damages regardless so why fleece them? While you may be successful with your STR strategy, you also contribute to why people are fed up with the ridiculous fees that come with them.
If this platform had been around when I was in my 20’s, I can’t decide if I would have been 10x better off or just found myself constantly questioning why everyone here sounded so successful.
