In Zimbabwe, police officers are not legally permitted to impound your vehicle solely because you haven’t paid a fine on the spot. Such actions are illegal and an abuse of authority.
If your vehicle is taken to a police station with the condition that it will only be released upon fine payment, this practice is not supported by Zimbabwean law. Motorists should be issued a ticket and given a reasonable time to pay the fine or contest it in court.
It’s important to note that while police can issue fines for traffic offenses, they cannot compel immediate payment by impounding your vehicle. Such coercion is unlawful and may be challenged in court.
Always ensure you understand your rights when interacting with law enforcement on the roads. If faced with unlawful impoundment, seek legal advice to address the situation appropriately.
Seduction or Swindle? The Unspoken Truth About 'Free' Drinks, Airtime, Pizza, Transport etc...
I find such behaviour profoundly disingenuous. If one repeatedly receives drinks from a particular person, at no small cost to them and considerable benefit to oneself, what does one suppose is transpiring?
No man would endlessly purchase drinks for a woman who has unequivocally declared disinterest.
Indeed, the only way to secure such a bonanza is through deception. These manipulative practices - where men are led to believe they are pursuing a genuine romantic interest - are all too common. Many men would be horrified to discover that they are saved in mobile phones under cruel monikers like "Airtime Tinashe," "Dora Dubai," or "Transport Tsaga," while the utterly forgettable might simply be labelled "Lunch."
These unfortunate individuals are never disabused of their romantic delusions; instead, they are strung along as mere sources of material convenience.
In the video below, one woman suggests that if she accepted gifts and reciprocated with sexual favours, it would constitute a prostitute-client relationship. However, this misinterprets what lies at the heart of prostitution. To dangle the prospect of romance merely to catalyse the gifts and generosities customary to courtship rituals is, arguably, the very essence of prostitution. The only distinction may be that prostitutes are, at least, honourable in their craft and provide what has been paid for.
These women, who present themselves as delicate flowers, are, in fact, thieves.
Asserting, "I did not tell you to spend your money on me," is an excuse that only legitimises this exploitative behaviour. It reveals how societal norms have conspired to permit - and to a large extent endorse - dishonest and manipulative actions by women, producing a skewed picture of a society where such conduct goes unchecked.
A more honest and legally valid stance would be to admit, "Yes, I led you on; yes, I used your resources; yes, I enjoyed my time at your expense - that is the reality of the situation, and none of it entitles you to any sexual interaction. Take it as an introduction to unwritten social contracts and the dangers of conventions - reciprocation may be expected but is not guaranteed."
We must ask: what kind of upbringing fosters these women's duplicitous practices? What kind of homes do they emerge from, where such cruel deception is celebrated as cleverness?
It is important to address this issue at the grassroots level, to shift the societal norms that seem to encourage and perpetuate such manipulation as a way of life. We must teach our daughters the principle of not accepting undue favours from men in whom they have no genuine interest. These favours are not without strings, being part of a courtship ritual.
