This little girl is not in the video. She wasn't even born. But she is moved to tears watching her mother and father get married. Why?

A Church of England vicar is warning that Britain's parish churches are heading for real trouble unless things change.

Rev Marcus Walker, founder of Save the Parish, says years of church closures, overstretched vicars, shrinking budgets and fewer volunteers have pushed many local parishes to breaking point. His campaign says more than 400 Church of England churches closed between 2010 and 2019.

He's now calling on Church leaders to put more money back into local parishes and support the churches that baptise our children, celebrate our marriages and bury our loved ones.

The problem with the British right is that nobody is able to create a big tent which can encompass those who wish to push hard on certain issues alongside the wimpy types who can't help but be obsequious to the liberal opinion.

It should have been Nigel Farage, but he didn't have the stomach to follow in the footsteps of Trump and repudiate the media and rely upon the online cohort to project his message. He also wasn't brave enough to stake out a popular but controversial position and judo-flip the media into spreading this message for him.

Purging his right has just created more problems, in fact, worse problems than having the hardliners inside the tent. This is the lesson that Keir Starmer also learned the hard way: you might not like your radicals but they are a non-trivial percentage of your coalition, so you must tolerate them.

Starmer didn't, and they went to the Greens. Farage didn't, and they became Restore.

Labour are rebuilding their tent as Burnham is morally more aligned with his radicals than not. Farage doesn't seem to be able to extend this kind of sympathy to his flank, so it seems he will be unable to make any progress on this issue.

The Reform goose is cooked if their star player is the reason that they can't advance any further. No good moves left for them to make.

And then you wake up, life has gone by, you are old, the house is empty, the children are grown, your body aches

And you finally know, you finally understand that at the end of life you will not wish to have had more promotions, to have gone back for one more day of work, to of had more time to clean the house, for one more day of school, for errands, for anything else besides a slow Saturday morning where the air smells like pancakes, and the house is filled with little voices, and you are woken up to the small bodies and the smell of the little heads you love most in the entire world.

An extraordinary life is made up of ordinary days. Of a summer breeze, and small hands, of cold cheeks you kiss in the autumn afternoons, of a steady hand that holds yours, of the wonderful miracle that is having everyone you love, all with you under the same roof.
