Reduced sea-ice and increased storms in the Arctic can change the upper ocean dynamics and lead to mixing of the subsurface warm waters towards up. We show that this process may important in Arctic fjords. @srvsxc@polarankit

Many people are reacting to the IPCC report by pledging to change their lifestyle choices-and this is great. BUT, we need to demand change beyond individual ecological footprints because they don’t reflect that climate crisis is the product of long-term exploitation & capitalism.

Prydz Bay, Antarctica, showed anomalous warming in 2016-17 summer. Warming was observed even close to Amery Ice shelf, one of the largest glacier drainage basins in the world. We showed the causes and impact of this warming.
