Hit the limits of Apple Notes years ago. Now I use 3 different note apps, all sync between iOS and Mac:

Apple Notes — for notes I share with wife and family

@dayoneapp — for journaling, expenses, notes that need date stamp

@BearNotesApp — all other notes
