📌Join us! Prof. Dr. Janine Kirstein presents her research about “Protein folding challenges in aging and disease” on June 5, in the SR “Nucleus.” Our Scientific Director invites you to the 5th lecture in the "FLI Inauguration Lecture Series" at 3 p.m. 👉https://t.co/2n9G2qS5Tp
Well done Spain for creating and online marketplace for animal samples! I hope this platform grows in different countries to cut research animal use, waste and save lives. https://t.co/a82YHRSxbM
❌💧Crying may hurt your experiments!❌💧
How to Maintain an RNase-free Lab. "Human skin and body fluids such as saliva, tears and mucus, can contain RNases (so don't cry over your samples)."
Sound advice!❌😢
Very informative lectures and hands-on sessions at GerBi FLIM workshop in Munich. Not to forget interesting discussions with fellow FLIM users. Special thanks to organisers #FLIMsym and @KirsteinLab for giving me this cool opportunity!
Leaky blood-brain barrier in long-COVID associated brain fog
This study confirms everything I have seen in the microscope over the last few years.
They use a technique called dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI), an imaging technique that can measure the density, integrity, and leakiness of tissue vasculature.
Comparing all individuals with previous COVID infection to unaffected controls revealed decreased general brain volume in patients with brain fog along with significantly reduced cerebral white matter volume in both hemispheres in the recovered and brain fog cohorts
#Covid_19 induces brain volume loss and leaky blood-brain barrier in some patients. How can this be more clear?

It's a pity that All of Us used UMAP to visualize ancestry variation in their new marker paper, out today in Nature.
The UMAP algorithm, by design, exaggerates the distinctiveness of the most frequent ancestries, a message that can be misinterpreted by the public.

Here's an #ImageJ tool that I made to explore @LeicaMicro Stellaris TauContrast datasets. It scales the image raw values to Average Arrival Times and you can adjust lifetime and brightness LUT from the image directly. https://t.co/fmvp3bXNeP

📣Job alert: 2 fully funded postdoc positions are available in my lab in Jena. Join us if you are interested in discovering new interventions for healthy aging with special focus on late in life treatment. Functional resilience in aging is our aim. Please repost!
Our signal propagation atlas of C. elegans is now out in @Nature! We measure the network’s response to optogenetic stimulation of each neuron in the head, one at a time-- over 23,000 neuron pairs. Congrats to @francescorandi@aksharma_118 & @DvaliSophie. https://t.co/DshzdEXz4P
I would also like to thank @GeneticsGSA, the organizers, the poster judges and the entire vibrant worm community for the stimulating and enjoyable research environment(3/3)
