@SheriefFYI It's clunky, weird syntax, many limitations, and at times a total PITA. but everything else is much worse. Makefiles don't scale and can be just as arcane, other platform specific systems lock you in (try to build a xcode project on Windows). But it works and is sort of standard
@SebAaltonen One of my colleagues at Intel maintains a vulkan wrapper and utility bundle that might be more in line with what you would like https://t.co/LxP6DpActI
@Crookacalypse Removing the writers, artists, and other creatives from the creative process, and tagging in some mathematical mediocrity AI engine yields a soulless product that can't even be considered art. It's a lame cash grab, and the fans/customers/audiences can tell the difference.
@davidcapello@Sosowski CMake is cross-platform, and supports generation to many different build systems. Expecting everyone to be using visual studio and the Microsoft tool chain feels myopic when make, Ninja, and a whole other host of compilers and build systems exist
@davidcapello@Sosowski I think this is actually a positive rather than a negative. We shouldn't be checking solution files into source control. If I'm not mistaken they're a massive XML configuration options and lock you into a specific tool chain. CMake are plain text files and by design...
@JoCat105 It's a term with a nebulous definition. In D&D it's all about the pact. But say,in the Dresden books "warlock" is a derogatory term for someone who has broken one of the seven laws of magic. I think the term lacks a cohesive archetype across all fantasy.
@SubcommanderT I think the best of the "old crew comes back" was Relics. Scotty gets to mourn the passing of his era and the absence of his friends on the holo-deck bridge reinforces it. All without under cutting the TNG crew, Picard shows extraordinary empathy because he understands.
@mcnabbd An engine from scratch has been at the top of my personal project list for a while now. Once a few life things are squared away, I'm planning on throwing myself into it
@rfleury@tawnniee We passionately quibble over variable and function naming because the descriptions and words we use matter, but in the same breath we deny that same power in written language when it comes to inclusive language? Intentionally using harmful language is not something to brag about
@theterk@TaliesinEvitel The SD is not "PC the console", as cool as that would be, and judging a title's status by its ability to run on that misses the forest for the trees.
@theterk@TaliesinEvitel The Steam Deck is tertiary hardware. BG3 wasn't made to target the steam deck, it targeted the PC platform, compatibility with the SD is a bonus for games, and it's great for playing older titles, and SOME modern ones, but you really shouldn't expect it to be forward compatible.
@tct_adventures Biggest issue with solasta when I played was having no control over which character was handling social checks. If I've built a charisma character and my barb is the one talking to people, that's a playability issue.
