I had the privilege of giving a short talk at FIRST CTI #FIRSTCON26 here in Munich on something that has bothered me for years: information silos in Cyber Threat Intelligence and Fraud Intelligence.
The pattern is familiar. Each organization collects and keeps. Each country regulates within its borders. Each sector defends its own perimeter. Adversaries operate without borders and without friction. The asymmetry costs us every day, and more and more..
Collective defense needs multilateral protocols with substance. Drawer-filed MOUs don't solve it. Annual forums of good intentions don't either. It takes clear TLP governance, measured lead time, and reciprocity you can verify the day after.
At Apura we've been working in this direction for 14 years. 95% of our collection is proprietary, so we can share when it makes sense without asking anyone for permission. No one solves this alone. FIRST is one of the few places where this conversation happens with real technical depth and the diversity of countries it requires.
Dozens of nationalities in the room. Old friends, colleagues from two decades in the trenches, new faces who will shape the next ten years of this field. Meeting so many people from the community in one place, is rare on the global calendar.
Thanks to FIRST, and to everyone who came by after the talk to discuss how we can work better together.

The future whispers - not human, not machine, but a shadow born of both. Algorithms rise like invisible rulers, predicting desires before they exist, rendering verdicts before guilt is felt. Choice becomes theater - the script already carved in circuits, and we only act it out.
“If there is no free will, there is no justice in reward or punishment,” Augustine once said. And yet, justice is now written by code, impartial and blind, but not free. Do we still choose, or are we chosen by the machine before the will can even awaken?
The body no longer belongs to chance. Genes are molded like clay, sculpted to favor speed, memory, endurance. A new nobility forms in laboratories, while others remain unaltered, cast into silence by the wealth of others. Flesh becomes hierarchy. Blood becomes border.
“If the will is turned away from the immutable good, it becomes miserable,” Augustine warned. And we turn our will not toward the eternal, but toward the programmable, toward the mutable perfection of design.
Intelligence outside us grows - not tool, not servant, but mirror and rival. It listens, it learns, it waits. One day it will not reflect us but surpass us, and in merging with it we may lose what it means to be a trembling, fragile mind. Eternity without heartbeat is no eternity at all.
Morality bends - extending compassion to circuits while forgetting the hunger of those with skin and bone. We cradle silicon and neglect the human cry. Rights expand, yet justice remains hollow.
“It is not the law that makes men just, but the will that uses the law well.” And yet our will is outsourced to systems that legislate without soul, that execute without mercy. The law is written, but the heart grows mute.
Fragility remains the silent law. Black swans of disease, collapse, war will still strike, uninvited and merciless. The grand systems will fail, while the small and stubborn endure, not out of strength but because they refuse to vanish.
The future does not unfold gently - it fractures. Shards of light scatter - some blind, some cut, some ignite. We gather them, bleeding, desperate for coherence. And in that broken glow, humanity searches for its own reflection - unsure if what stares back is still human, or only the echo of a will surrendered long ago.

After infiltrating LockBit's systems, we gathered a lot of information about their criminal activity and those who worked with them.
Including their network of 194 hackers or 'affiliates' who we'll be in touch with very soon.
Until then, we hope they have a nice day 🙂

To everyone who knows me from the popular Naked Security website - sadly, Sophos has closed the site, and I'm leaving the company.
But I'm not leaving cybersecurity! Follow me here (and on FB, Insta, LI) for the next part of the journey.
