Saw this BNM warning poster at a bank branch this week.
"Jangan terima wang kertas berdakwat. Wang kertas berdakwat mungkin telah dicuri."
Translation: don't accept ink-stained notes, they may have been stolen.
I always thought stained notes were just someone smearing ink on the notes or some printing defect. Turns out it is anti-theft technology built right into the ATM.
BNM uses ink-stained technology (https://t.co/MIVFuhiwdS). Dye packs are placed inside the cash bundles in ATMs and cash-in-transit bags.
If someone tampers with the machine or the bag, the pack activates and releases indelible ink that stains every note in the bundle.
BNM formalised the guideline in August 2020, asking financial institutions and cash-in-transit companies to deploy as a deterrent against ATM robberies. The ink is reportedly non-toxic to humans.
Here is the clever part.
Cash deposit machines are programmed to detect and reject stained notes. Bank branches are instructed not to accept them either. Anyone trying to deposit one may be tracked down for questioning.
The note is functionally worthless the moment it is stained. You cannot spend it, deposit it, or exchange it without potentially being investigated.
The deeper logic is elegant. The thief can still break the ATM open. But the cash inside becomes useless the second they touch it.
The robbery is no longer worth attempting.
Time to check your wallet if you have any such bank notes.
Nearly 10,000 signatures have been collected by activists and local residents opposing a proposed development near the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve in Kinrara.
Subang MP Wong Chen said residents have been objecting to the project since 2012, with concerns persisting over slope safety, traffic congestion, environmental impacts, and the loss of green spaces used by the local community and hikers.
According to him, activists sought assistance from his office in December last year after failing to obtain active support from Kinrara assemblyperson and Selangor executive councillor Ng Sze Han.

A man reportedly suffered head injuries requiring four stitches after an altercation at a bak kut teh restaurant in Kepong early Wednesday morning.
The incident allegedly began after the victim looked at three men who were said to be speaking loudly at the premises, leading to a quarrel before he was assaulted. Police later arrested all three suspects on the same day, and the court has allowed a seven-day remand for further investigations.

The sinkhole that occurred yesterday in Wangsa Maju is believed to have been caused by damage to the drainage system rather than land subsidence, KL mayor Fadhlun Mak Ujud said.
Initial inspections found that a sump wall within the area's 1.5m drainage system had likely collapsed, allowing water to flow into the ground.

@peta May I suggest PETA to create a ranking of the worst countries with animals and the best countries with animals. Then, create a new social platform and show each country what they’ve done by displaying the current number of incidents that have occurred. One for horrific acts and
