लल्लनटॉप की 'पिपासा' डॉक्यूमेंट्री में बाड़मेर की एक ग्रामीण स्त्री कहती है कि माई अस्सी-नब्बे साल की हो गयी है फिर भी बेरी से पानी लाना पड़ रहा है, इससे ख़राब तो और क्य�� होगा। यही बात सोशल मीडिया पर अभी देखी जब एक बूढ़े बाबा ने कहा कि जीतने पर पानी की व्यवस्था करवा देना। ज़रा सोचिए वो इंसान अपनी पूरी ज़िंदगी पानी की किल्लत में बिता चुका है, अब अगर वो पानी की माँग कर रहा है तो जाहिर तौर पर अपने लिए नहीं कर रहा है बल्कि अपनी आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए कर रहा है ताकि उन्होंने जो जिंदगीभर झेला वो गाँव की आने वाली पीढ़ियाँ न झेले, और यह कहानी सिर्फ एक गाँव या एक व्यक्ति की नहीं है बल्कि बाड़मेर-जैसलमेर के सैकड़ों गाँवों की है। जिन गाँवों में भूजल खारा है वहाँ तो स्थिति और ज्यादा ख़राब है।
आज़ादी को 75 साल हो चुके हैं और थार रेगिस्तान के सीमावर्ती गाँवों के लोग अगर आज भी पानी जैसी मूलभूत सुविधाओं से भी वंचित ह�� तो इसका दोषी कौन है? क्यों हमारे चुनाव के मुद्दे सड़क, स्वास्थ्य, शिक्षा और पानी नहीं है। नेताओं को बयान देना, फण्ड लेना, यात्राएँ करना, सभाएँ करना सब याद रहता है पर अपने क्षेत्र के लिए एक पैसे का भी काम कराना क्यों याद नहीं रहता। क्योंकि हम उन्हें याद नहीं दिलाते। इस बार ��ोई भी विधायक जब वोट माँगने आए तो उससे अपने गाँव, कस्बे या ढाणी में कराए गए काम का हिसाब माँगना मत भूलियेगा।
