@kelbycrownover Agreed and I'm surprised by Lynden's take. I thought Holly was going out of her way to defend the coach and not make it about her. I don't even think she's especially good at her job, but Sark looked ridiculous for not taking 30 secs especially given what ESPN pays the SEC.

@benmillerMKE @sportsrapport He's maybe gotten better but at minimum Michaels left NBC and Romo regressed. But also he and Buck are great tonally with the slower paced pre- and post-game production, chatting with SVP, etc.

@LizWebsterSBF @EvanHub The actual answer, if you can get the AI folks to have a few drinks first, is that they also think there is a 10%+ chance of AI letting us ascend to something close to godhood. And they're willing to take that bet. (FWIW I wouldn't take the bet even if I agreed with their odds).

@Realrclark25 Seems weird to confuse "recommended" and "forced" but whatever. I wasn't a fan but ESPN was still a total clown show with how this went down. Don't leak the news, but if it does leak maybe tell the guy either 10 minutes sooner or 10 minutes later and avoid this whole story.

@YonMillz_ @Realrclark25 Good point and certainly he had already diversified with his podcast. I think ESPN helped in two ways: visibility (MNF postgame with millions of viewers) and legitimacy (way fewer ESPN NFL analysts than there are ex-players). Will be interesting to see if he can sustain momentum.

@AlexiLalas It’s a competitive but distorted market. Same principle as college tuition and weddings - “for my kids” suddenly makes people ignore cost/benefit tests and spend $ they’d never spend on themselves. Hard to fix though given we’re genetically programmed to sacrifice for our kids.

@sportsrapport Echoing others I’d consider an appletv. “Smart apps are about the same regardless of platform” is one of the biggest implicit tech myths. Most streaming boxes are slow and most TV built-in apps are worse.

@burackbobby_ This is so interesting Bobby because it contrasts "football ESPN" which people watch with "daytime ESPN" which other media types talk about. I do agree with some below that Schefter probably deserves to slot around 8. Also interesting Kirk's booth partner doesn't make the top-10.

@MiloP613 @burackbobby_ Credit to ESPN too for making it feel like a game that matters. The song is meh, but the fanfare, production design, and the ancillary programming (Manning, Van Pelt, etc.) make it feel all about the game. Meanwhile it seems like NBA games exist to tee up the daytime lineup.
