But sure, Gayton. Tell us again how this was “nation building.” Tell the grandmother in a corrugated shack who hasn’t seen a grant in weeks that her tax contribution helped fund hospitality suites in Atlanta. Tell the unemployed young man in Eldorado Park that the R31 million was an “investment in South Africa’s image.”

This is the Patriotic Alliance in government. The same PA that spent years screaming about ANC looting, only to discover that once you get a seat at the table the gravy tastes exactly the same. The GNU isn’t a new dawn. It’s just a bigger table with more forks.

Thirty-one million rand for a football tourism jolly while the country starves. And the best part? He published the breakdown himself and still expects applause for transparency.

That’s not accountability. That’s just rubbing our faces in it.

Minister John Steenhuisen's Chief of Staff, Jana Le Roux, forwarded an email to the Head of Department of Agriculture, Director General and Deputy Director General of Agriculture.

As you can see from the screenshot, she then states she has added the response from Andrew Morphew "for some amusement". This follows after the minister requested that people share their concerns with him and his office.

Now, can I just say that if a chief of staff is this comfortable to mock roleplayers in the agricultural industry and laughing with the DG and DDG, and HOD of Agriculture, imagine what it's like in the internal meetings.

Clearly this is a standard that has been set by the minister himself because a chief of staff that is professional and balanced would never allow their internal feelings to show, especially when speaking with the DG, DDG or HOD.

This is shameless behaviour from a chief of staff, but what makes this so much worse is the fact that the Agriculture Department need as much support as they can get with the worst FMD Outbreak in recorded history in South Africa, and not only do they mock these roleplayers behind their backs, but they refuse to listen to experts in the field.

The worst part is the document that he attached was to thank the Minister for securing vaccines and to ask how they could assist in the roll out of these vaccines and how the farmers could get some of these vaccines to start private vaccinations.

This is yet another clear indicator that John Steenhuisen and his department don't care about the farmers and farmer unions in this country.

🚧UNDER CONSTRUCTION: The R3.2 billion private Afrikaans university in Pretoria East is currently being built on a 220-hectare site, and progress is powering on

They broke ground in January this year, and the first batch of students is expected to be welcomed in January 2028.

The campus includes: learning centres, a library, offices, an amphitheatre, coffee shops, a cafeteria, a student centre, lecture rooms and laboratories. There will also be a student residence housing 750 students.

These facilities will be used by 400 staff members and 2500 students daily.

This is a huge project; during ground earthworks in 2025, they removed 360,000 m3 of soil from the site. The campus infrastructure also includes:

• 40km fibre cables
• 23km of underground water pipes
• 19.3 million litres of water storage
• 30 000m2 tar for roads and parking
