@ericabrescia Engineering is still too variable to be able to easily quantify for people management purposes.

I think they can be a tool to help an engineer improve their impact, but shouldn't be solely used for performance management.

@ericabrescia I worked at a startup that used one of these tools. It was used as a means of managing out people and hitting a metric for the sake of the metric.

I believe it might be actionable for the people who are let go via these tools since the standards are not applied fairly.

@spencerwi Are you gathering the logs from the modem itself?

@spencerwi Had a similar issue with Comcast years ago. Internet would reset every 30-40 minutes. The physical connection was weak at the pole and the tech came out, replaced the wire from the pole to my house and everything was copacetic again. I also wrote a script to gather data.
