Will the cough syrup crackdown push rural India towards Ayurvedic remedies?
India has removed the Schedule K exemption for cough and cold syrups. Products previously available with fewer restrictions in rural areas will now require prescriptions and purchase through licensed pharmacies.
Aimed at halting contamination and misuse, experts predict this will heavily boost demand for Ayurvedic and AYUSH remedies.

🇮🇳A major breakthrough in women's healthcare.
A Goa-made HPV test has become the first Indian-made #cervicalcancer screening test to meet international scientific benchmarks, according to a study published in the International Journal of Cancer.
Developed on the Truenat platform, the test was found to perform on par with globally established HPV screening methods in a study led by @aiims_newdelhi and @ICMRDELHI institutes, in collaboration with the @WHO's cancer research agency.
Affordable, battery-operated and designed for use even in low-resource settings, the innovation could significantly expand access to cervical cancer screening for millions of women, particularly in rural India.

In a Phase 3 trial involving 500 patients across North America, Europe and Asia, the pill nearly doubled survival time compared to standard chemotherapy.
Researchers say the drug targets the KRAS mutation found in more than 90% of pancreatic cancers and could mark a major breakthrough in cancer treatment.
The FDA has already placed daraxonrasib on a fast-track approval pathway.

A new experimental gene-editing therapy called VERVE-102 is raising hopes that high cholesterol could someday be treated with a single dose instead of lifelong medicines.
In an early-stage clinical trial, the treatment reduced “bad” LDL cholesterol by up to 62% in some patients with inherited high cholesterol and early heart disease.
Researchers say the therapy works by targeting the PCSK9 gene linked to cholesterol regulation. However, experts caution that the treatment is still experimental, and larger long-term studies are needed before it becomes publicly available.

A major women’s health condition affecting millions worldwide has officially been renamed.
PCOS, or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, is now called PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
Experts say the old name was misleading because women with the condition do not actually have ovarian cysts, but “arrested follicles” caused by hormonal imbalance.
Doctors say the new name better reflects the disorder’s impact on hormones, metabolism, mental health, fertility, and long-term health risks.
