Had the privilege of meeting Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Real Time Governance and Human Resources Development, and Working President of Telugu Desam Party, Nara Lokesh, at Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.
Myself, along with Nitin Gadhia, represented Hindusthan National Glass & Industries Limited — now a Madhvani–Turner Group company — during the meeting, where we had insightful discussions on industrial growth, manufacturing, sustainability, investments, and the immense potential of Andhra Pradesh as an emerging hub for advanced manufacturing and exports.
Shri Nara Lokesh Ji’s sharp focus on real-time governance, execution-driven administration, technology-led transformation, and investor facilitation truly reflects a modern and result-oriented approach to governance. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ji and in alignment with the development vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Andhra Pradesh is rapidly emerging as one of India’s most progressive and investment-friendly states.
It is inspiring to witness the Government’s strong commitment towards ease of doing business, infrastructure development, employment generation, and creating a globally competitive industrial ecosystem. @naralokesh@ncbn@HNGILofficial@1SMM1 #investment #glass #hngil #andhrapradesh #naralokesh #cbn #nchandrababu @OfficeofNL
Today marks one year since the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 on 12th June 2025. A tragedy that claimed 260 precious lives and left countless families with an irreplaceable void.
Among those we lost was our beloved former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani Ji.
What do I even say about my memories with him?
I was perhaps among the last few people fortunate enough to meet him before that fateful journey. Our last phone call, my visit to his Gandhinagar residence a day before the incident, and our final meeting at the airport still play repeatedly in my mind. Some memories never fade.
For me, Vijay Uncle was much more than a political leader. He was a guide, mentor, like father figure, and a pillar of strength. I never hesitated to call him for advice, support, or simply to learn from his wisdom. No matter how busy he was, he always found time.
Recently, I met a gentleman who was deeply worried about his wife’s medical condition and struggling financially. During our conversation, I instinctively told him, “Don’t worry, I will speak to Vijay Uncle and see how we can help.”
And then reality struck me.
Vijay Uncle is no longer with us.
That moment left me speechless.
One memory that perfectly captures the man he was remains etched forever in my heart. Shortly after stepping down as Chief Minister of Gujarat, he was travelling to Delhi via Mumbai. He called me and said, “The Delhi meeting has been cancelled. Can you come and pick me up from Mumbai airport?”
I told him, “Of course, Uncle. Give me 15 minutes.”
When I reached the airport, I was stunned. Here was a former Chief Minister of Gujarat, standing alone outside the airport near a bus stop, carrying his own bag like any ordinary citizen.
No entourage. No fuss. No sense of entitlement.
Just simplicity, humility, and grace.
That was Vijay Rupani Ji.
This is why he ruled people’s hearts. This is why people loved him beyond politics. This is why his absence is felt so deeply even today.
Uncle, we miss you every single day. Your phone number still sits in my contacts. Sometimes I find myself wanting to call, hoping to hear your familiar voice say, “Bolo Suraj, shu kaam chhe?”
For our family, you were like the roof over our house a reassuring presence, a source of comfort and strength.
Please continue to shower your blessings upon us from above.
May God grant eternal peace to your noble and kind soul.
🙏 Om Shanti 🙏

As the first anniversary of the AI171 tragedy approaches, one question continues to trouble many families who lost their loved ones on 12 June 2025.
While there is complete faith that the DGCA, Ministry of Civil Aviation and other Government authorities will conduct a fair, independent and thorough investigation, serious concerns arise when financial compensation is linked to “full and final settlement” agreements requiring broad waivers and indemnities before the investigation report has been made public.
If the cause of the crash has not yet been officially determined, how can victim families be expected to waive potential rights against Air India, aircraft manufacturers, component suppliers, OEMs or any other entities that may ultimately be found responsible?
If a family chooses not to sign such a waiver, will financial compensation be withheld or delayed? If so, does this not create an unequal bargaining position where grieving families are effectively compelled to choose between immediate financial relief and preserving their legal rights?
Can a settlement truly be considered “full and final” before the facts surrounding the accident are established through a transparent investigation?
These questions go beyond compensation. They concern fundamental principles of natural justice, informed consent, accountability and the rights of victims’ families to make decisions based on complete information.
Air India and the Tata Group have built their reputation on trust, ethics and integrity over decades. It is therefore imperative that any compensation framework is perceived as fair, transparent and free from any element of pressure, whether direct or indirect.
The Government of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation and DGCA may consider examining whether such waiver provisions are appropriate before the completion and publication of the investigation findings.
Families deserve both timely financial support and the preservation of their legal rights. One should not come at the cost of the other.

The report by ET raises deeply troubling questions. If true, why are families of victims of AI171 being asked to sign broad waivers and “full & final” settlement documents before the final investigation report is out?
Can any airline seek legal releases covering not only itself but also third parties such as OEMs, manufacturers, airports, or other stakeholders before the truth is fully established? On what legal basis can Air India seek waivers on behalf of entities such as Boeing, GE, Honeywell or others?
This is not merely about compensation. It is about the fundamental right of victims’ families to know the truth, pursue accountability and make informed legal decisions. Any settlement obtained before complete disclosure of facts raises serious concerns regarding natural justice, informed consent and fairness.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, DGCA, AAIB and the highest authorities of Government must urgently examine whether such practices are appropriate while investigations into the AI171 Ahmedabad crash of 12 June 2025 remain ongoing.
Most importantly, families must be clearly informed whether signing any “full & final” settlement today could impact their future rights to pursue legal remedies against any airline, manufacturer, service provider or other entity found responsible after the investigation concludes.
Justice must not be traded for speed. Truth must come before closure.

Ahmedabad Air India Crash – Compensation Concerns Even After A Year!
📰 Gujarat Ex-CM's Kin Raises Red Flags
Radhika Mishra (daughter of late Vijay Rupani, one of 242 victims) has written to Tata Sons Chairman urging Air India to stop pushing settlements before the full investigation is complete.
💰 The Offer
Air India is offering cash compensation + ex-gratia to families only if they sign a document permanently waiving:
- Right to sue the airline
- Right to sue aircraft manufacturer (Boeing) & others
- All future claims, even if new evidence emerges
🛡️ Air India’s has paid interim compensation of ₹25 lakh per victim
- The Tata Group is additionally providing an ex gratia payment of 1 crore to each victim’s family
- Full liability as per Montreal Convention remains 1.9 crore at current exchange rates

Victims of the tragic Air India crash deserve both: compensation as well as justice. It is not an either/or situation. Extremely cruel on part of @airindia management to offer compensation to families of victims only if they forego their legal rights. Kudos to Late Vijay Rupani ji's daughter Radhika Mishra for giving voice to concerns of family members of all the victims. Why should compensation be subject to the families providing indemnity to not only Air India but even its OEMs. @DGCAIndia

Wishing a very happy birthday to BJP National President Shri @NitinNabin Ji. May God bless him with good health and a long life filled with success and happiness.
Rising fuel prices are no longer just a market fluctuation. For energy-intensive sectors like glass manufacturing, they are becoming a defining operational challenge. Continuous furnace operations depend heavily on stable and affordable energy access, and the widening gap between global fuel trends and domestic pricing realities is placing significant pressure on manufacturing economics, logistics, and long-term competitiveness.
Sharing HNGIL’s perspective, Chief Strategy & Corporate Affairs Officer, Suraj Mehta (@surajbmehta) underlined that energy security has now become as critical as production efficiency for the industry. He noted that strategic international partnerships and long-term energy cooperation frameworks are increasingly important in ensuring supply resilience and cost stability for Indian manufacturing.
In this context, the strengthening India–UAE relationship and the recent MoUs focused on energy cooperation, infrastructure, and trade assume greater significance. These initiatives reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continued emphasis on securing India’s long-term energy interests while positioning the country as a resilient global manufacturing hub. Such collaborations can play a meaningful role in supporting industries that rely on uninterrupted energy access and predictable fuel economics.
As cost pressures rise globally, the way forward for manufacturing will require stronger policy support, diversified energy partnerships, smarter fuel strategies, and deeper industry collaboration to sustain growth in an increasingly volatile environment.
