Historic Moment for Indian Fencing! 🇮🇳🤺

In a landmark achievement for Indian sport, #IndianNavy's Taniksha Khatri, CPO and Prachi Lohan, PO, have become the first-ever Indian women Épée fencers to reach the prestigious Main Table of 64 at the Senior World Fencing Championships in Hong Kong.

Reaching the Table of 64 (Direct Elimination Round) against the world's elite marks an unprecedented milestone for the Nation and the Navy.

DRDO successfully conducted the maiden flight-test of the indigenous ‘Kusha’ Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha, successfully intercepting a high-speed, high-altitude aerial target. The advanced system is capable of engaging a wide spectrum of aerial threats across long ranges and varied altitudes, marking a major milestone in India’s indigenous air defence capability.

The @DRDO_India has successfully conducted the maiden flight test of Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile Kusha today from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

Kusha missile system is capable of neutralising wide variety of aerial threats including fighter jets, missiles, UAVs and large enemy aircrafts within a wide range and altitude envelope.

Today’s successful test flight of Kusha marks an important milestone in Indian defence R&D. The capability in developing long range surface-to-air missile system is possessed only by a handful of nations. This will also eliminate the import dependency for such systems and signifies a giant leap in air defence capability of the nation. I congratulate DRDO and other stakeholders for this achievement.

🌀Indian Air Force (IAF) starts Ex Pitch Black 2026 at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Darwin. Scheduled from 20 July, 2026 to 07 August, 2026. Exercise Pitch Black is the RAAF's premier biennial multinational air combat exercise.

🌀The exercise derives its name from its emphasis on night flying over the vast un-populated areas of northern Australia.

🌀In the exercise's 45-year long history, this edition features large quantum of participating forces, bringing together military personnel for complex Large Force Employment and multinational air combat operations.
