!!! NYC Department of Buildings rejects plan to save a 174-year-old church in Bushwick that burned via arson
Demolition is set to begin in August
Ahmed Tigani leads the agency
- First comedy and satire was targeted. The elements that keep a society largely in check.
- Next was masculinity. Men were shamed as “toxic” for being manly.
- Then it was women who complain, and they were labeled “Karens.”
So if appropriate mockery is out, the most ridiculous concepts actually see the light of day.
If men aren’t permitted to defend what they know they should, the most harmful and dangerous concepts see the light of day.
And when older women are shamed for speak against what they see as wrong, the most outrageous behavior sees the light of day.
Comedy, satire, mockery, masculinity, and female wisdom. Restore it all now.
In Minnesota, leaving a house is a ceremony longer than the visit.
I learned this at a dinner. At 8:00 the host slapped his knees and said "welp." I understood this to mean we were leaving. I stood. I put on my coat. I was raised to honor a signal.
I was the only one standing.
"Welp" is not the end. "Welp" is the announcement that, at some point in the coming hours, an end will be considered.
At 8:15 we were still discussing a cousin's new truck.
At 8:40 we had migrated to the front door, where a second and entirely separate conversation began, richer than the first, because now everyone was standing and therefore relaxed.
At 9:05 the door was open. Cold air came in. Nobody acknowledged the cold air. To acknowledge it would be to admit that leaving was physically possible, and this would be rude.
At 9:20 we stepped onto the porch, which unlocked a third conversation.
At 9:45 the host remembered he had something for us. He went back inside. We waited. When he returned with a jar of pickles, the giving of the pickles required its own farewell.
I have timed the Japanese goodbye. A bow and a closing door. Clean. Efficient. Cold, I understand now. So cold.
Here, the goodbye is the party. The visit was only the excuse to earn the goodbye.
At the car, at 10:10, the host took my hand in both of his and said, "Well, we won't keep ya."
They had kept me for two hours past "welp."
I have never felt more kept. I have never wanted less to leave.
Now, when I host, I say "welp" at eight o'clock, and I mean by it: please, for the love of everything, stay until midnight.
Nobody has left my house on time since.
It is the proudest I have ever been of a failure.
He’s been in heaven for a year now.
There’s just no way to put into words the impact John MacArthur had on my life, my wife, Kathy’s, life and the lives of so many others. He was not only a great preacher and expositor, but he was also truly kind and humble.
🚨 REPUBLICAN SEAT IN JEOPARDY: Meet career Democrat Belinda Keiser.
She is trying to sneak into the GOP primary for FL-22.
This lefty has a long history, former Dem candidate, big donor to Hillary Clinton and DWS, also accused of lying on Senate filings.
We don’t need recycled Democrats wearing an R. (We already have John Thune in the Senate)
FL-22 Republicans: REJECT THIS!
Byron Donalds, you should be ashamed. You want a promotion to Governor, but you got rich trading stocks in companies overseen by the committee you sit on, and didn't disclose it like the law requires. You don't need a promotion. You need to be held accountable.
A stranger at an American grocery store said, "I love your jacket, man."
I froze.
In Japan, when a stranger speaks to you, something is wrong. You dropped your wallet. Your bag is open. There is a spider on you.
So I checked my jacket for stains.
I checked my zipper.
I turned around — maybe he meant someone behind me.
He was already gone.
He didn't want anything.
The compliment was the whole event.
It took me three weeks to try it myself. I practiced in my car. "Nice hat." "Nice hat." "Nice hat." Twenty minutes.
At Home Depot, I finally said it to an old man. My voice cracked like I was confessing love.
He said "Thanks, brother!" and kept walking.
Like it was nothing.
Like kindness is free here.
Since that day, I have complimented 14 strangers.
In 40 years in Japan, I never once told my father I liked his car.
Tomorrow I'm calling him.
Nice hat, America.
We have “freedom of religion” in the US, not “freedom of law.”
Any attempts to replace our law, constitution, etc with another form should be strictly viewed as an act of war. @DeptofWar@SecWar
🔥🚨LATEST: This singer said these record execs told him that he couldn’t mention the name Jesus if they signed him and he put the camera on them and responded by singing gospel.
Seen some movement in the grass as I mowed so I stopped to check it out. This is a great example of a female wolf spider with 100’s of baby spiderings on her back. I see tons of these spiders but this is the first good view of the female with babies. Such amazing creatures.
GOOD NEWS! A group of beluga whales facing euthanasia after the Canadian marine park they live at closed will relocate to American aquariums. https://t.co/mEQgSqrgPg

Huge thanks to everyone who voted and helped make it happen. And to Michigan… we know the Mustang has roots there, but it looks like it found a better home in Florida🌴
