யாழ்.நவாலி சென். பீற்றர்ஸ் தேவாலய படுகொலையின் 31 ஆம் ஆண்டு நினைவு நாள் இன்று.

150க்கும் மேற்பட்டோரின் உயிர்களை காவுகொண்ட நவாலி தேவாலயத் தாக்குதலின் 31 ஆம் ஆண்டு நினைவுநாள் இன்றாகும்.1995ம் ஆண்டு ஜூலை 9ஆம் திகதி யாழ்ப்பாணம் நவாலி பேதுருவானவர் தேவாலயம் (சென். பீற்றர்ஸ்) மீது சிறிலங்கா விமானப் படையினரால் தாக்குதல் நடத்தப்பட்டது.இத்தாக்குதலில் 150இற்கும் மேற்பட்ட பொதுமக்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டதோடு, 150 பேருக்கு மேல் படுகாயமடைந்திருந்தனர்.இந்த சம்பவம் இடம்பெற்று இன்று (வியாழக்கிழமை) 31ஆண்டுகள் பூர்த்தியாகின்றன. ஆனாலும் அன்றைய கோரத் தாக்குதலின் வலியிலிருந்து மக்கள் இன்னும் மீளவில்லை.அத்தோடு, பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களில் பலர் தற்போதும் நிர்க்கதியற்ற நிலையில் சொல்லொணாத் துயரத்துடனேயே வாழ்கின்றனரென்பது மறுக்க முடியாத உண்மையாகும்.இந்த சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக விரிவாக நோக்கினால், குறித்த காலப்பகுதியில், வலிகாமம் பகுதியில் சிறிலங்கா அரசினரால் முன்னேறிப் பாய்தல் இராணுவ நடவடிக்கை ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட நாளில் இத்தாக்குதல் நடத்தப்பட்டது.

பலாலியில் இருந்தும் அளவெட்டியில் இருந்தும் எறிகணைத் தாக்குதல்களையும் குண்டுத்தாக்குதல்களையும் மக்கள் குடியிருப்புகளை நோக்கி மேற்கொண்டிருந்தனர்.
இதன்காரணமாக பொதுமக்கள் கையில் அகப்பட்ட பொருட்களுடன் வெளியேறிக்கொண்டிருந்தனர்.
அப்போதுதான் இந்த கொடூரச் சம்பவம் அரங்கேறியிருந்தது. 1995ம் ஆண்டு ஜூலை 9ஆம் திகதி இதேபோலதொரு நாளிலேயே குடாநாட்டின் பல்வேறு வீதிகளினூடாக அகதிகளாக வெளியேறிய மக்கள் நவாலி சென்.பீற்றர்ஸ் ஆலயத்திலும் நவாலி சின்னக்கதிர்காமம் முருகன் கோயிலிலும் தாகம் தீர்ப்பதற்காக அமர்ந்து களைப்பாறினர்.

அவ்வேளையில், யாழ். நகரப் பகுதியில் இருந்து அராலி நோக்கி வந்துகொண்டிருந்த புக்காரா விமானம் தொடர்ச்சியாக 13 குண்டுகளை மேற்படி இரு ஆலயங்கள் மீதும் வீசியது. இரண்டு ஆலயங்களும் மாலை 5.45 மணியளவில் இடம்பெற்ற தாக்குதலில் பலத்த சேதமடைந்தன.இத்தாக்குதலில் ஆலயங்களில் தஞ்சமடைந்திருந்த குழந்தைகள், பெண்கள், வயோதிபர்கள் உட்பட 150 பேர் அந்த இடத்திலேயே கொல்லப்பட்டனர். அத்தோடு அவயங்களை இழந்தும் உறவுகளை இழந்தும் 150இற்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டனர்.

இந்த சம்பவம் இடம்பெற்று இன்றுடன் 31 வருடங்கள் நிறைவடைந்துள்ளன. ஆனால் எம் மக்களின் மனங்களில் நீங்காதுள்ள ரணங்களுக்கு இதுவரையில் மருந்தில்லை.

Tamil families of the forcibly disappeared in the North-East have announced that they will convene an international conference on 30 August, marking the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, to renew their rejection of Sri Lanka's domestic accountability mechanisms and their demand for international justice.

The announcement was made by representatives of the Association of Relatives of the Enforced Disappeared at a media briefing at the Jaffna Press Club. Across the Tamil homeland in the North-East, and in other parts of the island where Tamils had lived, they said, Tamil youths and young women had been abducted by the state security forces and allied paramilitary groups, many forcibly disappeared after being arrested, others after being handed over to the Sri Lankan military.

🚨 Sri Lanka moves Negombo prisoners to North-East after 26 killed in riot

Sri Lankan authorities transferred more than 100 inmates from Negombo Prison to prison facilities in Jaffna and Batticaloa on Tuesday under heavy security, following deadly violence at the Negombo facility that killed at least 26 people and injured more than 100.

The emergency transfers come after two days of clashes inside Negombo Prison, one of the deadliest prison incidents in Sri Lanka in recent years.
