If your view on sports psychologists is you only need to see one when something is wrong or broken, then you should only see a technical coach when playing badly.

Although there's no doubting the importance of the technical & tactical side of sport, the more I learn & experience, the more a realise the power & need for a psych-social framework within a coaching & team environment #ThursdayThoughts
Haven't used this account properly in 18 months due to starting @svgolfperforman
However, with this down time, I've decided I'm going to post about my thoughts & open-questions on areas I continue to study
I'm hearing from many panicked self employed. I believe the govt knows it must sort this. Its been tackling the lower hanging fruit (ie easiest issues) first. Funding self-employed's tough logistically. Yet I'd be surprised if more help wasn't enacted next week. Try to hold on :(
If you are a coach/parent who has a perfectionist mindset, don't be surprised to see your athlete/child struggle to deal with failure in numerous tasks.
This leads to burn out and drop out! #ThoughtOfTheDay
Asymmetry is not a bad thing.
The body is naturally asymmetrical and that is a fact.
It has implications on how we develop, breathe, and move.
Asymmetry should be expected in many sports.
But when asymmetry starts to get out of control, that's when problems start to pop up.
Being physically strong provides a multitude of health benefits throughout your whole life. Don't think body building, think robustness and longevity #stronger#Healthliteracy
Being stronger, having a little muscle to lose is your reserve... it allows you withstand stress. Being stronger with a little extra muscle (i.e., not frail) is a big deal as we age
P.S. being fit doesn't hurt either! https://t.co/pS4mnW7j2l
A great sports parent:
- supports, doesnβt criticize
- letβs the coach, coach
- rewards effort & attitude over outcome
- supports & applauds other kids efforts too
- doesnβt gossip or speak ill about the program or others. They instead confront the coach in person respectfully
An inspirational story for a fellow young coach trying to make their way in elite sport. The basics never fail #OBSESSION#intuition#criticalthinking#MakeYourOwnLane

To expand on something Coach @JasonSpray said last week about the grind and doing whatβs expected of you.
The people who really understand the value of hard work and focus donβt have the desire to share with everyone on social media how busy they always are.
Elite sport is way more complicated than fans realise. Take @ManUtd & @Arsenal, the majority felt Van Gaal & Wenger were the wrong managers to take the clubs forward & yet if they had stayed, it would be unlikely that either club would be any worse at this point in time #football
