Statement from the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces
To our resilient people:
Since 6 January, our regions and our people have been directly subjected to brutal and barbaric attacks. In the face of these assaults, our fighters are resisting with courage and great sacrifice, continuing their struggle with dignity and honour.
Today, the Turkish state and its mercenaries, who carry the mentality of the ISIS organisation, are escalating their attacks on our people, believing that they can break our will and crush our resistance.
We affirm, with firm resolve and unwavering determination, that just as our comrades waged a historic resistance in Kobane in 2014 and turned Kobane into a graveyard for ISIS, which was supported by Turkey, today—with the same will—we declare that we will turn our cities, from Derik to Hasakah and Kobane, into a graveyard for the new bearers of the ISIS mentality, whose movements are directed and orchestrated by the Turkish state.
On this basis, we issue a call to all our youth—women and men—in Rojava, Bakur, Bashur, and Rojhilat of Kurdistan, as well as in Europe, to unite together, break the borders imposed by the occupiers, and join the ranks of the resistance.
Today is the day of dignity.
Today is the day of historical responsibility.
And today, once again, we affirm that the will of peoples is stronger than all forms of attack and occupation.

Alarming escalation in Aleppo: heavy artillery, drones, and tanks in use. 8 killed and 60 wounded so far in Al-Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud. Kurds and other communities face grave danger.
Scenes of destruction from the shelling by Damascus government factions on residential buildings in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, which has been ongoing for three days.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) issues statement in light of escalating violence in Aleppo:

The UK Representation to the Syrian Democratic Council expresses serious concern over the escalating violence in Kurdish-majority neighbourhoods of northern Aleppo, which has led to civilian harm and forced displacement at a sensitive juncture for Syria.
We urge all parties to cease hostilities, pursue dialogue, and uphold their obligations to protect civilians under international humanitarian law. Lasting stability in Syria depends on restraint and political solutions.
We are closely following the situation as it develops.

Deeply concerned by clashes in northern Aleppo, civilian casualties and displacement at a time when stabilising Syria is so important.
🇬🇧 calls for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and the protection of civilians.
We continue to monitor the situation closely.
Ministry of Defense of the Syrian Interim Government has announced war on the heavily populated neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, a war of extermination against the Kurds who has been subjected to oppression by the previous regime. The majority of the neighborhood's residents are Afrini IDPs. These two neighborhoods were already under a suffocating siege by factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense. Although the authorities of the neighborhoods have adhered to the April 1st agreement, the interim government has not. We have made substantial efforts to engage in the negotiations, but the Ministry of Defense refuses dialogue. We call upon the officials of the government to assume their responsibilities for what is happening in the neighborhoods and to pursue a realistic and sustainable resolution for the problems through dialogue, avoiding war and violence. The Syrian people have suffered enough from wars. We urge all Syrians, especially Syrian youth, to reject violence, stand for justice, and renounce war.
As the UK Representation to the Syrian Democratic Council, we express deep concern over the violent suppression of peaceful protests across Syria.
The use of excessive force and live weapons against civilians is unacceptable and undermines any path to national dialogue.
Syria’s diversity is a source of strength, not division. Accountability, dialogue, and a democratic, decentralised Syria are essential.

Video Footages broadcasted by two media outlets documents tank and artillery shelling by Damascus government forces on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, which are populated areas with over 1.5 million civilians.
This shelling is a clear and unequivocal condemnation of these forces, revealing their direct responsibility for endangering civilian lives and committing a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
A video shows the intention to attack Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh
We are publishing this video as conclusive evidence that the withdrawal of General Security forces affiliated with the Damascus government from the joint checkpoint at the Al-Jazeera car wash station junction in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo took place before the clashes that were deliberately instigated by government-affiliated factions.
The video shows a friendly exchange of greetings between the General Security forces and the Internal Security Forces – Aleppo prior to the withdrawal, which completely refutes any justification for attacking the two neighborhoods with tanks and rockets, and reveals that the withdrawal was a premeditated step paving the way for the planned attack.
This video directly confirms the baseless narrative promoted by the Ministries of Interior and Defense of the Damascus government to justify the assault, which resulted in the martyrdom of one woman and the injury of 17 civilians, in addition to the injury of six members of the Internal Security Forces – Aleppo.

🚨Urgent Statement from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF):
What is happening in Aleppo is a direct result of provocations by the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) factions and their attempts to advance with tanks.
Some media outlets are circulating false claims that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) targeted checkpoints belonging to Damascus government fighters around the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhoods in Aleppo.
We categorically affirm that these claims are entirely untrue. Our forces have not been present in the area since their withdrawal under the 1 April agreement.
What is occurring in Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud is the result of a series of repeated attacks carried out by Damascus government factions against civilians. They have imposed a suffocating security and humanitarian siege, cut off relief and medical supplies, abducted numerous residents, and continued daily provocations at checkpoints and around the neighbourhoods. Recently, they have erected earthen barriers around the neighbourhoods and enforced the siege.
In a dangerous escalation, these factions are attempting to advance with tanks and armoured vehicles and are targeting residential areas with mortar shells and drones, resulting in civilian casualties and serious property damage.
These actions have provoked residents to defend themselves, alongside the Internal Security Forces in the neighbourhoods, who are fulfilling their duty to protect civilians and maintain security and stability.
We hold the Damascus government fully and directly responsible for the continuation of the suffocating siege, the systematic violations against civilians, and the recent dangerous escalation that worsens the suffering of residents and threatens regional stability, demonstrating their deliberate disregard for human life and dignity.
We call on international and humanitarian organisations to take urgent and effective action to end this unjust siege and halt the systematic attacks and provocations against civilians.
