Indian telecom Reliance is sabotaging access to Telegram for millions of users OUTSIDE India (including the UAE) via a rogue method called BGP hijacking.

The sabotage seems intentional, as Reliance has ignored multiple reports.

This may be part of a competitive war, as Reliance is partially owned by Meta — the company behind WhatsApp.

Network operators are advised to reject unauthorized BGP announcements from Reliance (AS18101) to prevent route hijacks and ensure stable Internet access for their users.

Such abuse of global Internet routing is alarming. I wouldn’t be surprised if Reliance/WhatsApp were also behind the recent lobbying effort to ban Telegram in India.

The sheer audacity of these pan Indian handles in undermining Tamil Nadu’s robust industrial ecosystem is despicable. Tamil Nadu established #SIPCOT, Hosur almost fifty years ago. Industrial giants like TVS started setting up their factories in Hosur, years before the Electronics City, Bangalore was even established.

Hosur became an Autohub independently (which BLR isn’t), helping it attract EV further & now the availability of manufacturing ecosystem helps it attract more, supported by the attractive investment packages offered by the Govt of TN.

This is not to undermine the sheer scale of development of BLR. But Hosur developed on its own, not under the shadow of BLR.

Saying Hosur developed because of the proximity to BLR is as dumb as saying BLR developed because of proximity to TN. It’s not a satellite town, but an industrial behemoth on its own.

By the way, the Mahindra Logistics is creating warehouse spaces not only in #Hosur but also in #Coimbatore and also expanding their existing unit in #Chennai.
