A Better Question
Instead of asking:
“Is this country our enemy?”
Ask:
“Whose interests are served by framing this country as our enemy?”
Foreign policy becomes much clearer when you follow interests instead of rhetoric.
Race was always a management tool.
Before the Atlantic slave trade needed a justification, the concept of race as a fixed, heritable, biologically determinant category did not exist in its current form.
It was invented.
Assembled from pieces of theology, pseudoscience, and administrative necessity by people who needed to explain why some human beings could be owned and others could own them, and who needed that explanation to feel permanent and natural and God-given rather than convenient and constructed and profitable.
They built the wall.
And then they told the people on the comfortable side of the wall that the wall had always been there.
And then they told the people on the other side that the wall was their natural condition.
And then they stood back and let the wall do the work of preventing the two groups from looking at the hands that built it.
That wall runs through every country the empire touched.
Not always along color lines. Sometimes along religious lines. Sometimes along ethnic lines. Sometimes along the lines of a border drawn in 1884 at a conference in Berlin where not a single African person was present while European powers divided the continent like a meal.
Different wall. Same architect. Same function.
Divide the people from each other.
Unite the people against themselves.
Keep the hands that built the wall out of the picture.
We are putting them back in the picture.
Your credit score didn’t exist before 1989. For 200 years Americans bought homes and cars without it. Then 3 private companies invented a number that now controls your entire financial life
The system wants you to believe nothing can fundamentally change.
Capitalism becomes “human nature.”
Endless growth becomes “common sense.”
Extreme inequality becomes “just how the world works.”
But systems are historical.
They were created by people.
They are maintained by people.
And they can be changed by people.
@briebriejoy But it’s like… did you really expect anything different? Did people really expect working within a capitalist/zionist party to lead anywhere?
@FORTRESSMAXXING@extra_beef_ This goes to show that “anti-Zionist” sentiment within the Democratic Party is just for show and to gain political points/votes.
Obama ran on the same vague "pro-Palestine" platform as el-Sayed, Platner, AOC, Mamdani etc
The same Obama who destroyed Libya, Syria, Yemen, and under whom the 2014 Gaza War happened.
Hasan Piker, Yugopnik, Hakim, MikeFromPA, DSA etc would grovel for Obama if they were around in the 2010s.
@SocialistMMA It’s simple. We hate North Korea because the US state department tells us to hate them not because we’ve done any actual thinking on the subject matter.
Hakeem Jeffries rejects Medicare for All even though it remains popular with large numbers of Democratic voters.
This is not a puzzle.
The Democratic Party, like the Republican Party, is organized around the interests of capital and its major donors.
Popular support for a policy does not override the material interests of the industries and class layers the party actually represents.
Both parties manage the system.
Neither is a vehicle for the working class.
For-profit “healthcare” kills 115,000 Americans each year, yet here is Hakeem Jeffries saying he opposes Medicare for All. The Democratic Party is not the party of healthcare. Just like the Republican Party, it is the party of the murderous, for-profit health insurance companies.
