@RepoleStable@UFLStallions Please fix this Fox broadcast. This is the largest crowd that Birmingham has probably ever had and it sounds like a library 90% of the time. ESPN has no issue making crowds a fraction of the size sound like a packed house. It’s a terrible look for the League.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL Damn it, here I go making a liar out of myself yet again, FOR REAL REAL, the LAST LAST LAST point I have is that one foot in bounds sucks. Bring back two feet in for a catch. This is supposed to be PROFESSIONAL football, and pros have to get two feet in bounds for a catch.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL The ESPN broadcast is leagues better than the Fox broadcast when it comes to energy. They make even the smaller crowds sound loud and invested whereas the Fox broadcast tones down the crowd noise to the point where it’s almost silent.
@LanePFN The uniform redesigns are terrible. Every established fanbase hates them. They totally screwed up DC’s uniforms with taking away the camo helmets, the numbers, and the white on white away uniforms. The new ones are all just black with ugly clashing colors except the Kings.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL Dang I keep remembering stuff. Last point, for real this time. Redo how super challenges work. Only one per game is not enough. It should be either one per half or one per game, but get it back if you win the challenge. If that means you’re charged a TO regardless, so be it.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL I’ve just noticed that for some reason, Twitter doesn’t show replies in the order in which they were posted, so for this thread to make the most sense, set your replies to “Recent,” and read the first comment first, then the replies bottom to top.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL Just to wrap up a few odds and ends, I’m indifferent on the 4-pt FG and banning the tush push. Same thing on the new markets, but it’s nice that all three seem capable of drawing a crowd (looking at you, Memphis). My closing remark is to BRING BACK THE SEATTLE SEA DRAGONS.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL One other thing I just remembered that I didn’t like was how that draft went. DC had a solid roster last year that just got totally blown up. I get that it’s to stop the same teams from running the table every year, but having my team’s stars forcibly shipped out feels bad.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL One game isn’t going to make the team mean so much to me that I’m going to pay money for an ESPN subscription or a cable package solely so I can follow the team. All games should be accessible via antenna or something else that doesn’t have a paywall just to watch.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL That also just makes it harder to get invested in one team. If I’m from, say, Columbus, I might stumble upon one of their Fox games and watch, but if the next game isn’t on network, I’m not going to be able to follow the team consistently and actually get into it.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL Also, make the games more accessible. If you want the sport to grow, the way to do that is not by locking half the games behind a paywall. Anybody who isn’t already interested in watching the UFL isn’t going to pay money to try to get into it.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL With the Fox broadcast, it’s good that there’s no gambling talk at all and it’s so refreshing that they’re playing more songs at breaks than the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Last year it was so obnoxious that it is single-handedly responsible for me now hating that band.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL One thing that is noticeably better about the broadcasts is how they’ve toned down the gambling. In 2023, it was incessant, but has slowly been getting less obtrusive. It’s still annoying and gross that it’s there at all, but it’s good that there’s less of it.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL With the no-punt rule, it can make things interesting, but we’ve already seen an example of how it can drag down a game when neither offense can move the ball well and both teams just endlessly turn it over on downs in the middle of no man’s land, leading to stagnation.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL The uniform changes, almost entirely across the board have been awful. As a DC fan, I hate that they took away the camo helmets, the new numbers, and the white on white away uniforms. They were fine as they were. The only change I like are Birmingham’s new red helmets.
@RepoleStable@TheUFL We also need to go back to the 2023 XFL style of officiating. After the merger, it took a massive step backwards in terms of transparency. More audio from the refs on penalty discussion and more intervention from the booth on obvious missed calls that massively impact the game.
