Here is the staffing shortages as identified by @KPMG. We have over 20 of 55 facilities with double digit staffing shortages.
I’ve also attached the Immediate Critical Need of $2.2 Billion, so you can see that the bulk of the money is for things like electrical, plumbing, windows, roofs, flooring and full remodels.
But our loved ones housed in concrete buildings with no air, with inadequate mental & health care, and food not for human consumption and other abuses @FL_Corrections are the only ones that ever did anything wrong right? #doublestandards
Price hikes in prison canteens can have a significant impact on the families of incarcerated individuals, who often bear the financial burden of these increased costs! Stop raising the costs ‼️ @FL_Corrections#fooddessert
Another day of deadly heat in FL. Another day of fighting to make sure cold water is given & fans are turned on. That water's not toxic & those locked in confinement aren't dead. It shouldn't have to be a daily battle to keep our loved ones alive. Or should it? @FL_Corrections
"In Florida's sweltering prisons, the heat becomes a daily torment with no escape and no air conditioning. While temperatures soar, so should our compassion and call for humane conditions. #BeatTheHeat"
No personal space, being treated like animals being raised for slaughter, packed in, fed slop, little to no medical Are we a civilized society? Dostoevsky famously said “The degree to which a society is civilized can be judged by entering its prisons”. @FLSenate@myflhouse
🥵 warnings issued AGAIN today for FL! Some heat mitigation efforts R offered to those in GenPop, but they R not enuf! Many housed in CM, confinement and death row DO NOT receive ANY relief from these brutal 🌡s. WE NEED CHANGE NOW! #BEATTHEHEAT@GovRonDeSantis@nytimes@hrw
"In Florida's prisons, where the heat is relentless and the cells are unforgiving, the absence of air conditioning turns every day into a battle for survival. #BeatTheHeat and remember, justice should not come with a temperature gauge."
@dianne_abshire@FL_Corrections@FLSenate@FLHouseofReps We have an air-conditioning pilot program right now. Why aren't we implementing it into the facilities that are ready with roofs and ductwork etc. isn't that important to start helping a few? Why are we waiting?
Did you know?? at Desoto Annex today men were locked inside cement cells with steel doors for 5 hrs (So far) while others in dormitory type cells are also confined to no classes, no movement. The brightest lights are kept on - though not needed. Temps exceed 100 inside these cells. This is not correction or even punishment…It is TORTURE.
