Earlier today Our Programs Lead and Creative Director joined a facilitation by Green Gov Zimbabwe Trust through Oxfam in Southern Africa exploring the intricacies of a Just Energy Transition.
We:
- Uncovered facts and realities on the frontlines
- Navigated politically sensitive issues with accuracy so as to sway morality
- Explored global and local perspectives, including the Paris Agreement and its shortfalls on legalitities
- Fiscal aspects like double taxation for foreign investors within the Lithium sector and everlagging policies that give ownership without control
- the Ministry of Energy and Power Development updated us on their stance on renewable energy, energy status and progress towards NDC
- Delved into human rights, including the right to energy as a household right
- Energy pricing as huge player and the history of JET
All Thanks to the book “The Just Energy Transition in Zimbawe : social, economic, and environmental perspectives,” for providing an avenue for discourse and facts to drive our well informed advocacy efforts in the future
This knowledge will shape our data-centered programming, ensuring we’re informed and effective in our climate justice work.

@ZELA_Infor, @CAID_Zimbabwe, @ActionAidZim, @Action24regionl , @CANZIM11#CTDO and #CAFP, are convening a post @COP28_UAE reflection meeting for government, CSOs and community members.
COP28 passed key decisions such as the launch of the loss and damage fund, #JustTransition, #climatefinance , global stock take, carbon credits and global goal on adaptation. These outcomes have implications for climate action at international and domestic levels.
However, prior to COP 28, CSOs in Zimbabwe submitted a position paper to the government with demands for inclusion in the country's position paper for the UAE conference.
Today, we take stock of these demands vis-a-vis the outcomes and prepare for further positions/input for @COP29_AZ
