The collapse of part of the Kiteezi landfill on the outskirts of Kampala on Saturday has caused the death of at least 30 people, whose bodies have been recovered, while 39 others remain missing, local authorities reported on Wednesday.

The landfill had a structural failure in waste mass resulting in a collapsed section of the landfill. The level of damage is still being assessed. Our teams, along with other government agencies are on ground taking the necessary measures to ensure other bodies are recovered.
