Really excellent. Carefully argued. Worth reading:
“The problem in the Middle East is not, and has never been, the existence of the state of Israel. The problem is jihadism, Islamism, Islamic extremism, Islamofascism, militant Islam.” https://t.co/8mA1W0YtOY
A really insightful piece in @Quillette on the moral panic surrounding the so-called "manosphere," bringing some much-needed anthropological and historical perspective to the debate.
I used to enjoy Louis Theroux's documentaries, and he's undeniably talented, but he has become increasingly tribal: targeting only those groups his audience already dislikes while turning a blind eye to groups afforded greater sympathy. There's little genuine insight in his new documentary 'Inside the Manosphere'. It's just a series of amusing and cringey vignettes, some of which effectively puncture the pretensions of these online grifters.
But the overall framing is so predictable that it ends up feeling more like audience validation than serious inquiry.
"A repeated element of Theroux-style reporting: feigning shock at the behaviour of one group that it is fashionable for his audience to dislike, while carefully avoiding pointing out that the exact same behaviour is characteristic of a protected group. There is a word for this sort of activity, and that word is not "journalism". It is "pandering"."
"Theroux's documentary is not without value. But it is half a story—the loudly accessible, politically convenient half. The rest of the story is less comfortable, implicates more powerful institutions, and would require a willingness to apply the same scrutiny across the board. As long as documentaries like this one present sexual polarisation as a pathology of young men on the internet, and decline to examine the other side of the wall, they are not exposing the manosphere. They are feeding it."

THIS deserves a ton more attention. Biden regime used tax dollars to fund radical anti-Israel protests and terrorist-linked NGOs.

It was entirely predictable that the Israel haters would not be appeased by the disgraceful honorary PhD awarded to their favorite antisemite—they would only be emboldened by it. Another open letter is circulating: they will not rest until the last collaboration with Israel is cancelled, and the last "zionist" is kicked off campus.
You could have kept your dignity, @UGent, @UAntwerpen, and @VUBrussel, but you threw it away for nothing: fawning over Francesca Albanese, allowing her to spread blatant disinformation from the stage, and even permitting her to humiliate the rectors.
Sam Harris on Trump: "He's been better than many people could have hoped and certainly than really any Democrat would have been expected to be. It causes me a fair amount of pain to admit that, but I just think it's true."
The New York Times’ reputation lies in tatters. Its publication of the anti-Zionist blood libel about Jew-dogs raping Palestinians is the final straw. It has turned from the newspaper of record into a spouter of vile medieval rumours, says Brendan O’Neill

In Toronto, a young Jewish girl named Esther has been missing for over a week. To make matters worse, people have been ripping down posters about her disappearance, just like they did with the hostage posters after 10/7—one of the more appalling things I've ever seen in my life.
This is a defeat.
Not for the islamic regime, but for the United States. This "deal" will likely look identical to what the mullahs demanded back in January.
And his promise to the people of Iran - "Help is on its way" - has been forgotten.
Absolute madness.
