A source told The Observer Post that Delhi Police personnel were allegedly stopping young men near Gate No. 2 of Jamia Millia Islamia Metro Station and recording their names on a "detained persons" form on Friday.

According to the source, two police personnel without visible name badges had already filled out several forms by the time they arrived. The source alleged that when questioned, the officers cited the imposition of Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and asked them to leave the area.

The source claimed that the protest site was far from Jamia Nagar and that the area around the metro station was peaceful, questioning why the names of metro commuters were being recorded on a detainee form.
