I am so glad #SOTU pledges to increase funding for #opiateusedisorder treatment especially evidence based #MAT and #harmreduction.
But what about “treatments” we need to STOP funding, that are NOT evidence based and may even cause harm, including ⬆️ death and ⬆️ disease?

@sulmoney Epic is a technology that can/is leveraged for better patient care but it is misused by the system - it’s not the technology’s fault the system is broken.
@davideyoungmd@gabrieldane Individual hospital policies and aggregious misunderstanding of hipaa is to blame for this - not the technology. The technology makes information sharing easier IF the institution knows what they are doing (which sadly they often don’t)
@OddBrains@FiSurgi Cosmos is the “research arm” of Epic and it is freely accessible to researchers at institutions who use Epic and contribute data to Cosmos. When you contribute to Cosmos you sign an agreement that prohibits selling data https://t.co/MIAKhMyeHZ
@davideyoungmd@gabrieldane I can fax notes to any fax number using Epic. It’s great, only takes a few seconds. This may be something your institution has not enabled - most of the time epic isn’t the limitation, it’s your informatics team
@junsunglao Dx and tx of major depressive disorder or generalized anxiety, first onset and no med hx, no psychosis and no mania - this is a primary care competency. Having a behavioral health consultant as part of your team can help you navigate these concerns
Escitalopram (Lexapro) joins duloxetine with @US_FDA approval down to age 7 in gen #anxiety disorder. It was already approved in MDD 12 and up

Dylan Mulvaney: "for a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse, in my opinion, than not hiring a trans person at all...it has serious and grave consequences for the rest of our community."
Selling fentanyl in 2023 isn’t some malicious act… in most parts of the country it is the only opioid available on the market. There’s no choice. They aren’t poisoning people, they’re just passing it along the supply line. This a prohibition issue, not a drug seller issue.
