India’s AI strategy must rest on two pillars: building sovereign models tailored to our needs, and deploying them at scale for a billion people.

Which is why I was so pleased to see @Tech_Mahindra recognised by MIT Sloan in its AI20 list of Indian organisations distinguished for technical differentiation, funding momentum and market impact.

What stands out to me is that TechM is pursuing both pillars simultaneously.

Project Indus, its 8-billion-parameter Indic language foundation model backed by the IndiaAI Mission, is focused on creating AI rooted in India’s linguistic diversity. Orion, its agentic AI platform, is about applying AI at scale across enterprises and public systems.

And this recognition is not occurring in isolation. Gartner has named TechM an Emerging Leader in Generative AI Consulting and Implementation Services. The WEF selected it for the MINDS cohort advancing linguistic and digital equity through AI. And the Government of India chose it as the only large IT services company among eight organisations tasked with building sovereign foundational AI models.

One line in the MIT Sloan report particularly resonated with me: meaningful AI innovation does not come only from startups.

At this stage of the AI revolution, scale itself becomes a strategic advantage. Distribution, domain expertise and the ability to deploy rapidly across real-world systems matter…

What is truly gratifying is to see @tech_mahindra placed furthest to the right on the X-axis, “Future Potential, ahead of all global peers. This reflects a powerful endorsement of the team’s vision, innovation, and ability to shape the future of enterprise AI.

The benchmarking study emphasizes key performance metrics such as Time to First Token (TTFT), inter-token delay, input prompt length, output prompt length, and total throughput in tokens per second - by evaluating these parameters under various conditions, including varying numbers of concurrent requests.

As I finish my run at @tech_mahindra, I feel proud to share that the #GenerativeAI project challenge I took up earlier has been successfully accomplished by our brilliant research team at Makers Lab.

We launched #ProjectIndus in beta testing phase within TechM. The pure Hindi LLM consists of 539 million parameters and 10 billion Hindi+ dialect tokens. The model is probably only one in the world which has all Hindi tokens and has been trained grounds up. It will set the stage for the years to come as our prowess in deep tech.

I now pass the baton over to @mohitjoshi74, @nickmalhotra and team, and my talented #TechMighties, who will take this one notch higher. Thank you for everything, team!
