The interpretation is that a passport can be issued to Indian citizens, but a citizen holding passport can still proven later to be an illegal immigrant and passport can be revoked. So passport or any document isn't a proof of citizenship because you can get them by fraud.

So the story is this. Indian Passport can be granted to all Indian citizens. It can also be granted to certain non-Indians at the discretion of the Govt. Hence, not an absolute proof of citizenship as theoretically it can be given to some non-Indians also.

To be frank , her objective assessment of risk to herself is spot on. She's a rich woman and this is India. There's almost no chance she will be hanged. A far poorer Sonam Raghuvanshi managed to come out within a year.

I haven’t been able to not read enough about the tragic 26 year old Ketan Agarwal’s cold blooded murder by his 20 year old fiancé Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. I hope there is strictest application of law and she gets the punishment she truly deserves.
That for someone to plan something as evil and belief that she can get away with it is disgusting. Her parents deserve to be punished by law too, in all probability they knew about daughter’s love affair yet bulldozed her into an arranged marriage.
