Proud of this girl and all her hard work in the classroom and on the soccer field. Signed her letter of intent to Doane University to play soccer. @DoaneWSoccer #proudDad#go tigers
I’m blown away that teachers still assess all students the same way on the same day. Is it not crystal clear that students learn at different rates? Why then are we sticking to a system that is SO flawed. And worse, most times students are never given an opportunity to recover.
In Ep 6 of our #GrowthOverGrades podcast, educator @AllisonETEC shares some wisdom, "Keep it weird." "Don't be afraid to laugh at yourself." 🤣

Teacher pondering: How often are the students we have on "intervention" watchlists only there because we refuse to change our practice? Happy Wednesday :)
The way we're panicking to figure out how to "catch students up" is evidence that we haven't been trying to meet students where they're at all along.

The push for minimum grading (ie. - giving 50% instead of 0 for missing work) often creates friction in a staff because it isn't approached correctly. It's a stop-gap solution for a bigger problem that's never truly addressed.

Working with an Alg1 T looking for project for Ss to demonstrate their understanding of applications of quadratics. Any help would be appreciated! #iteachmath#Algebra#MTBoS
When we build classrooms that are reliant on live lectures and fixed pacing, we build classrooms that are unresponsive to students’ unique needs. We become inflexible when students require personalized supports. We end up focusing more on control than the whole child.
@abel_jennifer Thanks Jennifer. For some schools bandwidth is going to be an issue so having all students online won’t be an option. Love @Desmos and many Ts are already using it.
In need of help...those with hybrid teaching experience, what are some class structures/routines you’ve found success with? My district is transitioning to fully open but giving families the choice to stay remote #hybridlearning#iteachmath#MTBoS
