@MichaelLCrick Doesn't really answer your question but, as they're trailers and not fixed like normal advertising rights, they are deemed as being transient, so not liable to pay business rates
@DanNeidle Under the business rates retention scheme individual local authorities were financially incentivised to prevent avoidance. Since April, that is no longer the case
@DanNeidle RHL relief was capped for large companies such as Spoons, Greggs, etc but the 5p reduction is not capped, so those and similar companies are beneficiaries
@DanNeidle If this pub is part of a sole or small company, (I.e. Unlike spoons) they would have been entitled to 75% RHL relief in 24-5, which was reduced to 40% in 25-6. RHL relief has now been replaced by a 5p reduction in the multiplier. That probably equates to about 12%.
@DanNeidle I think it's worth pointing out that the article refers to owners of properties, but it is usually the occupiers of properties who are liable for ctax. I would suggest that in London some tenants may be renting band g & h properties, and they would also be liable for the new tax
@MichaelLCrick I don't remember a 4 seconds rule. Do you mean the 4 steps rule whilst carrying the ball? Keepers would then play the ball on the ground before picking it up again
@jlsinc@PJTheEconomist Paul, could you please answer this point. Unless you're suggesting that council tax raised in one part of the country is redistrubuted to pay for services provided by councils elsewhere. But sure this would then constitute taxation without representation?

@policy_practice@michaelsavage@ObserverUK The article talks about benefits being increased by earnings, but your tweet is regarding benefits being increased by inflation?
@tescobankhelp I'm trying to add my Tesco credit card to Google Wallet, but it seems that Wallet isn't supported by Tesco. Why is that and is it likely to change?
