@MaxsAllStars Haslem’s comments about resolving it before the draft signaled *strongly* to me that they were planning to execute a trade - and would do so prior to the draft. The path of extending him doesn’t resolve until well after that draft day deadline.
@AaronNagler Plus there’s value in the strategic ambiguity. Cut him in advance and everyone 100% expects you’ll draft a replacement, heightening the chance you get jumped.
@brewcitypaul Maybe I missed it but it seems Giannis never clearly says anymore “I hope to remain a Buck” and the team never says “We want him to remain a Buck.”
@yehblitzed And, unfortunately, it isn’t just him. It’s a league wide plague. I have no idea why it is tolerated. This misbehavior ought to be regulated as unsportsmanlike conduct - that’s what it is.
@cswir Living the vision statement: “Kenwood Academy graduates will become influential contributors and leaders in their local and broader communities.”
@Libs_OfChicago@CTULocal1@ChicagosMayor What are the students’ proficiency rates when they enter MPHS? Is this a reflection of the high school itself or of the proficiency of the students the school receives?
@DanRShafer@ArmenSaryan Sadly, isn’t just about the lottery They either (a) plan to trade him regardless of extension prospects or (b) feel they may need to, lacking confidence he’d sign. In that event, they sit him for all of the games or reduce risks by sitting him a few more, which are winnable
@ArmenSaryan He wants to compete and win, which is consistent with his admirable values.
The Bucks want to lose and don’t want him to get hurt, both of which are consistent with their long term value.
Tough needle to thread.
@CTULocal1 Seemingly well intentioned, but opposing and avoiding those actions really doesn’t serve Chicago’s students well. There isn’t a bottomless pit of money, this is hugely wasteful, and it is impossible to provide a well rounded experience in sub scale schools.
@Chalkbeat@SSKedreporter I don’t believe one needs to be of a particular race to ably serve as CEO of the district, but FWIW, the district currently has **36% more** “Latinx” students enrolled than it does “Black/African American” students. The numbers aren’t all that close.
