@Iamhereforit1 I wasn’t commenting on whether there was a pile-on or defending every criticism made what I was responding specifically to was the claim that someone’s death retroactively makes legitimate criticism wrong or makes the critics responsible for it
Im not sure who you guys is I’m
I’m not sure who “you guys” is . I’m not affiliated with any group, and I’m not sure what assumptions you’re making. I just really, really hate that kind of reasoning. I actually agree with you to a degree the media froths at the mouth disproportionately over certain stories, human beings or truth be damned. I’d have loved to see this kind of attention shone on some of alleged co-conspirators . But that doesn’t make the reasoning I was criticizing any less bad.
@hankfrackett@safiyaaaay@benryanwriter Um that doesn’t follow. Deleting something out of respect after someone dies (this is a tragedy for many reasons) is not an admission that posting it was wrong in the first place. And calling it “evidence” doesn’t magically make it evidence of wrongdoing.
@safiyaaaay@benryanwriter This is manipulative and sinister. Don’t do that. If someone is critiqued about things they have provably done wrong and then they die/kill themselves(speculating because no cause of death given). Their critiques are then to blamed ? Huh how does that make sense.
If I'm honest this has been a hard season for me lately. I've been struggling with trusting God's timing. I was reminded when reading Psalm 37 today that I am to be still before Yahweh and wait patiently. That Yahweh is good to those who wait for him and seek him, and it is good to wait quietly for God’s salvation (Lam. 3:25–26). This quiet waiting involves hoping in God’s word while the soul waits more intensely than watchmen awaiting morning (Psalm 130:5–6).
I was reminded that prior to preaching to thousands, for a season Peter went back to fishing after thinking he failed Jesus. That Paul sat in prison cells, Lazarus lay in a tomb, Jonah prayed in the belly of a fish, Hannah wept on the steps of the tabernacle, Joseph was locked in the captivity, and Moses stood in the fields of Median herding sheep. All before God made moves in his timing.
Times of waiting, while hard, remind us of the confidence we should have in God’s timing and character. When direction seems slow in coming, we're called to wait for it, assured it will come when the time is ready (Hab. 2:3). Yahweh himself waits to be gracious and show mercy, and those who wait for him are blessed, for he is a God of justice (Isa. 30:18). Rather than taking matters into their own hands, like I often am tempted to do, we are instructed not to repay evil but to wait for the Lord, who will deliver us (Prov 20:22).
Hoping for what is unseen involves waiting with patience (Romans 8:25), and through the Spirit and faith, believers eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness (Galatians 5:5). Waiting involves expectancy and hope regarding events and contingencies still in the future, it's the outworking of a spiritual posture directed at trusting God’s promises and timing rather than our own understanding.
Knowing all of this, writing here on X doesn't make my season of needing to wait any easier, but the consistent, inspired, inerrant testimony of scripture nonetheless gives me something solid to trust in. I am fickle, impatient, and finite. God is trustworthy, forbearing, and infinite. And his timing is right even if I don't know how or when things will happen.
Guys I think the words that you use in your inner monologue are so SO important.
Call me woo woo, whatever.
But one of my biggest takeaways from Robert Greene's book 48 law of power is law 25: Re-create yourself with a powerful new image.
And one super easy way to start doing that is by changing your language.
Say "I'm an athlete and athletes train" instead of "I'll be fit soon."
"I'm disciplined so I follow through" instead of "I want to wake up earlier"
"I'm a professional so 9-5, I write regard of how i feel" vs "i want to be a creator."
I did this with fitness. I didn't like how I looked so I told my buddies "i'm a fitness influenced."
They teased me (rightfully so, it sounds silly and that's what buds do), but I truly started to believed it.
And it changed my identity from someone who ate poorly and didn't train daily to "I must workout and. eat healthy as that's now my identity."
I'm going through it now. From "I'm a scrappy founder" to "I'm an executive who leads."
Its still hard to do...but the words I use to tell myself a story - it matters!
We talked about that on today's pod. go to minute 17.

Ah yes yes yes ! Seems so very simple but a life changing discovery for me. Applied one “I am” each year and it’s been crazy. Did it with health after years of chronic health issues. Also with running anns ended up running my first 3 day ultra relay less than 10 months later something that would have seen unfathomable to me.
It’s interesting because your behaviour adapts to fit this new stated image I think because we don’t like the dissonance of saying something that isn’t true.
When we start showing up as that the world also begins to reinforce it which in and of itself helps to solidify that new identity. Such an interesting and fascinating topic thanks for sharing Sam !

cut out all sugar even fruit added next 7 days. Avocado and salt to avoid the keto flu. water + 8 hours sleep will drop water weight & clear up skin. silk black top (quince) + black full length straight jeans, quality sling back pumps, get clean blunt ends haircut & whip up a laissez faire "wait gas prices went up I hadn't noticed" kinda vibe before you step inside & you're good to go ;)
My brain is now reading the word meme as the french word même. I think this is a sign I’m now bilingual no ? 🤔 my pseudo immersion appears to be working.
