@IIICapital That is why ordinary people remain ordinary
They always opt for comfort and the path of least resistance
And then complain when the "system" freezes their account because of an "radical" opinion or an unpaid parking ticket
@realhardmoney@isabellasg3 I am not promoting a one size fits all solution. I am just making Isa aware that there is a way to generate her own seed without trusting or relying on any hardware wallet manufacturer. There's nothing wrong in learning something new.
This is an idea for the new @Coinkite website.
And remember, no matter what "hardware wallet" you use, always BYOE (Bring Your Own Entropy). Also, consider supporting true free and open-source projects like @SeedSigner that are built with BYOE (Bring Your Own Entropy) in mind.
Multiple people have already reported that upgrading the firmware bricks the device so move your coins BEFORE attempting any firmware upgrade and never use a ColdCard device ever again.
Please treat this as urgent. Migrate your funds. Follow the advisory for your model, upgrade your device, generate a new seed, and carefully move your funds.
Help spread the word, especially to people who are less online and may not see this update.
The threat is still ongoing.
@isabellasg3 Keep doing what you do but do not underestimate the importance of spending some time understanding what you're dealing with. Disasters like ColdCard and FTX happen because people keep trusting third parties to do the work for them.
@PeterMcCormack Bitcoin has been scaling for 15 years in a row.
Stuff like the ColdCard fiasco, FTX, BlockFi and all the others happen exactly because people refuse to learn, trust the shills and then pay the price.
This ain't GMail or Whatsapp. Blame the people, not the technology.
@CANADIANHODLeh@BTCsessions This https://t.co/n35PWN619D (skip the first 4 minutes or so). And instead of letting @bluewalletio create the seed phrase for you, provide your own entropy like this https://t.co/dgV5f7fWQu and add a passphrase on top of it. Repeat the process 2 or more times for multisig.
