I have learned to use visuals, graphic organizers, gestures, and body language as much as possible. And not to group all ELL students in one big group. Each student is different.
A7: Provide multiple chances to retake assessments and allowing students to fix their mistakes on the assessments. Also provide feedback instead of assigning a grade whenever possible #AltRtEd#growthmindset
A6: Provide the students the rubrics being used in the assessment so they know what to work towards. Also praising their effort and perseverance for example you say, "Good job sticking to the task and your effort in the work. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
A6: I found this poster on Pinterest and I believe it is a great way to show feedback in a growth mindset. Not all feedback is created equal. I like assignments that have a rough draft, this allows feedback to be viewed without a grade attached. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
A5: As the teacher I need to voice and explain my high expectations I have for students. Let the students know what goals I have for them and then with them develop goals they want to achieve. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
A3: Mistakes are: expected, respected, inspected and corrected. This is something that should be displayed in every classroom. As teachers we have to fail at times to have a successful classroom. The only wrong questions are the ones that are not asked.#AltRtEd#growthmindset
A4: If a student is an introvert, a quiet student or a student who likes to work alone and maybe not like to raise their hand may cause a teacher to misdiagnose them as having a fixed mindset. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
A3: Providing a classroom where mistakes and effort are celebrated will help the students realize working hard is valued by the teacher. They will see that it is not how smart they are but how hard they work and students will excel in their learning. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
Q2: This approach to growth mindset is amazing. This is something I will be implementing in my class before exams, quizzes, projects, and periodically at random. #growthmindset#AltRtEd https://t.co/p3ppwzeZ3a
A2 I believe teacher can model a growth mindset in their classroom by embracing their own mistakes when they make them. This shows the students that mistakes are ok. Then show the students how to learn from the mistake. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
A1:A student with a fixed mindset, high or low achieving, won’t push themselves to do better and may give up when it gets hard. A student with a growth mindset will have more success bc they will learn from their mistakes and use that knowledge to improve. #AltRtEd#Growthmindset
A1 Growth Mindset plays a huge role in how a student learns. Someone with a fix mindset does not challenge themselves. A student with a growth mindset embraces challenges and knows they learn from their mistakes. #AltRtEd#growthmindset

@RutgersAltRoute A1 My biggest challenging when it comes to creating an inclusive environment for students with learning disabilities is getting the parents to communicate with me the needs of their children that may help me create a caring, safe environment for them to learn.
