“I want my kid to be really compliant” is not a dream any parent has ever had. Yet this is the unspoken goal of *much* classroom technique and school governance.
this is a large-and-getting-larger problem. If your kid's teacher isn't thinking AI things through carefully, they're failing, and if your school leader isn't worried about that, they're not paying enough attention.
1/ PossibleLawyerDaughter has received a C on a paper bc “the AI checker says it’s 40% AI.”
She did not use AI.
I let my kids handle their own stuff, but I’ve let her know if she doesn’t get a suitable response, this is one I would step in on.

I’d love for her to have more classmates, so allow me to share my impressions:

Agreement here. I won't rehash the research on why group work is inefficient for learning, but I would like to address this idea pervading K-12 that "group work is critical in the real world" which is used to justify inserting it into all kinds of schoolwork. 1/x
