I don't know enough about what I want to build to let it go as a long horizon task. I adjust my own thinking along the way. I'm good with 30-60 minute cycles, but the sweet spot is 15-20 minutes. What gets produced by an agent then has to be reviewed by me. Too long a cycle, too much work for me, and I probably wanted an adjustment inside that cycle.

Hermes Desktop has way more UI traps and a useless config gate when trying to use it against a remote Hermes. More annoyances to get working than Hermes One.

Could be any of us. Darn you Fable. On my machines it could come from opencode, Claude Code, Hermes, or pi. They're all running as close to auto as possible.

I've had an external 8TB drive sitting on a shelf, unplugged, doing nothing.. only last weekend did I partition Time Machine and start backups again.

Another hedge: always work from two machines. I have a linux machine and a Macbook. Either could die and I'm 90% set on the other machine.

I also keep a vps running with all tools and API keys. It's an artifact of my process but I double down on this staying up to date.
