Built up a finger set and finalized all the plastics for the first cobot forearm build. This one is going on a UR3 at the shop for some life cycle testing.
Test demo video(s) of the new actuator. First, startup calibration. Then, ramped velocity position control.
Printing new mounts and outer rings now to facilitate torque and load testing. Mounts will include M3 (shown), M4, M5, and M8 variants for multiple applications.
The new actuator delivers ~28Nm of torque on the low end of the scale. On the high end, it can deliver just over 180Nm.
The best part is you can make it at home.
At 5000 tons, Starship is the largest flying object ever made. Thrust is more than double the Saturn V moon rocket.
It is the first spaceship design capable of making life multiplanetary.
Goal of the next mission is to make it through the meteorically extreme heat of reentry.
A new motor- and spring-based actuator design has the potential to reduce energy consumption by 50% to 97% depending on the device, and could be used to improve efficiency of #robots.
